A Saudi girl in her 20s accidentally shot her father in the head with his own gun while they were on a picnic outside the town in Saudi Arabia.

The father, in his 60s, has just finished cleaning his gun when his daughter asked him to see the pistol. He emptied the gun of bullets but was unaware one bullet was left in.

“The girl started playing with the gun then aimed at her father’s head and shot, thinking it was empty,” Sabq newspaper said in a report from the central town of Qaseem.

“The father was rushed to hospital in a serious condition while his daughter suffered from nervous breakdown…police said they are investigating the incident.”

Why would the father hand his child a gun without 1) properly clearing the weapon AND 2) first instructing the child on safe gun handling & use? There are several things which could have been done to avoid this tragedy. How sad...

No NRA member would put bullets in a pistol, unless by accident with a squib.

Me too. Everyone’s an expert until you hear them equate cartridges with bullets. No one should comment unless they have ammo reloading skills and understand ammunition components.

The first thing I learned was: don’t point a firearm at something, unless you intend to destroy it. That includes if you are under the impression the firearm is empty.

They're muzzies & Saudi's to boot. Rational, common sense behavior are not among their strong points.

Dad was going for a Darwin Award, apparently unaware he was disqualified by prior procreation.

“Why would you clean a gun at a picnic?”

Maybe they were having an infidel shoot and a picnic. What could be more muslim family outing?

I’m more inclined to believe it’s a religious-cultural/firearms stupidity thing. We had it happen right here in CA on a job with someone of that persuasion who found a gun, and when admonished for pointing it at everyone while handling it, dropped the magazine and proceeded to point it at their own head and pull trigger to demonstrate “emptiness” when one of my coworkers snatched it out of his hand and racked the live round out of the chamber.

This guy was an engineer too...

Arabs ~ at least in the societies where they are called True Arabs by the anthropologists and historians ~ Arabia, Yemen, the Gulf states ~ took to personal firearms with a vengeance as fast as they could acquire designs.

They grow up with firearms.

Personal protection is one of the reasons, and also protection from poisonous reptiles ~ they have some quite dangerous snakes throughout the region.

Americans and the True Arabs have that understanding in common.

I’m thinking that maybe they should punish her by forcing her to live with a 35 year old man that rapes and beats her on a daily basis...but then I remembered over there it wouldn’t be looked at as punishment, but the normal life of a girl/woman. So they’ll have to come up with something harsher, which isn’t easy.
