Oh, and no bugs either. I run away from them, not eat them.

I once went to a Zig Ziglar conference and this doctor came out talking about nutrition and stuff. He had one of those fancy overhead things where whatever you put on its platform got projected on the jumbo screens. A few minutes into his talk and he whips out a rubber lobster and puts it under the magnifier and promptly says: “if you like eating this (lobster) then you need to know you are eating the cockroaches of the ocean.” The groans were loud and long....

Oh noes... I didn’t want to start a coastal war. LOL!!! My bucket list contains going down South for what you have described. I have tried the New England boils and they are good (although not as spicy as I would prefer). Now... add the spice mix, red pepper, onions, lemons, celery, garlic and butter.... that is what dreams are made of!!!

Of course you have to have the red potatoes and corn boiled up with the crabs. Maybe even a little fresh okra.

My old man was from Louisiana, that’s my inner coon-ass coming out.

I don’t like fish but love crab, lobster, and shrimp. Hubby tells me the same thing since he is a fish eater.

When I was a kid my dad and I would drive from Brooklyn to Delaware to pick up a bushel of steamed blue claws and a 2 pound bag of shrimp.

The shrimp were for the ride home.

We would sit under the tree in front of our building with other families and have a picnic. Grill would be going, the dads would be tossing around fire crackers they bought illegally in Chinatown, us kids would be throwing around a ball.

The moms would call everyone over and the food rest would begin. Italian sausage, deep fried turkey, different salads and those crabs.

I loved being a kid.

People can have all the foo foo dining they want (those tiny portions on little plates).. what you described is just the ultimate feast to me. Hugs!

"Oh, and no bugs either. I run away from them, not eat them."

Same here!

We're getting a huge swarm of 17-year cicadas....they should be coming out any day now. Guess I'll have to barricade myself inside...ugh.

While they may be relatives, they’re not close enough relatives for me to eat them.

No reason to keep the kid locked inside of us, let them out.

What we did as kids is still good times.

You remind me of a girl I used to date.

Her idea of a perfect date was all you could eat, preferably popcorn shrimp at Red Lobster.

She was about as big as your thumb, so the waitress bringing refill after refill of shrimp would watch thinking I was the one eating all the shrimp.

Shoot, everything likes cicadas. Darn horse would take one over carrot or apple. After she took the one or two you brought over it was back over to the pinion tree just a hoping for stragglers or a “full one” just hanging around. She could reach higher than the dog who had a taste for them too.
