The Bionic Dog With 4 Prosthetic Legs Returns To Hit Us In All The Feels

Naki’o is the first dog to ever be fitted with four prosthetic legs. We wrote about him right after he received his new legs. To summarize, this cute mixed-breed dog lost all four paws to frostbite when his former owners abandoned the litter of puppies in their foreclosed home during a frigid Nebraska winter. As we said at the time, we want to hunt down those former owners and punch them in the face almost as much as we want to rub this dog’s belly and watch his little plastic legs kick.

Veterinary technician Christie Tomlinson organized a fundraiser for the rescue dog, and Orthopets provided half-priced prosthetics which allow him to run, jump and even swim.

Now Rick Wilking of Reuters (via io9) has offered an update to the story of Naki’o the bionic dog. They posted new photos of Naki’o and inform us he’s found a happy home in Colorado Springs. Just check this little fella out.

what a smile. he is a happy boy allright. it’s good to see the stories like this, that the lowest ofthe unwanted dochave value, can thrive if given some love, and bring out some of the better qualities in people.

Perhaps if they had not been thrown out in the snow by the bank they could have left the heat on...

I understand your sentiment. All kinds of horrors happening to people (and pets) and the horrors can easily overwhelm those experiencing them. I suspect article’s sentiment was more one of perhaps they could have left the pups at a shelter or made some other arrangement for them.

Punching the former owners of this remarkable dog in the face is not punishment enough.
