Once upon a time, I walked past a couple in a restaurant, with their respective laptops open, I paused at their table and said, please tell me you're not emailing each other!
They laughed.
It wasn't until I got to the restroom, that I realized the guy was Steve Wozniak!
Don’t care for mine or the Nook. Sure I use them for web centric activities but, when I need to work I fire up the laptop, which is hooked up to a 27” monitor.

I wrote a book on my iPad via a bluetooth keyboard. If I could only have one device it would have to be the laptop because it can do more, but I love my iPad. I use it twice as much as I do the laptop.
Not having a real keyboard isn't much of a bother as I can use the touch screen keyboard easy enough to complete most tasks.
I was never looking for something to replace my desktop or laptop, and in fact I didn't even want the iPad, but work bought it for me so I wouldn't have to lug around my laptop as I needed access to certain spreadsheets and programs wherever I may be.
I have no desire at all for the Surface and its functionality. Many people probably will. Personally, I have a laptop for those needs, and I will always have a desktop for my primary work. The iPad, for me, is simply a useful supplement to both.

Sorry, Bill. I know not a single person who is unhappy or confused about their iPad. It is a tremendous device. I do recognize it is not a replacement for a lap top, but it has many uses.
Just for kicks, I once used apples cloud backup service. I then reset this thing, clearing everything. I then restored everything from the cloud backup. It restored EVERYTHING!! Including usernames and passwords. I never had to do anything. I was floored.
Would I buy another one if I had to replace it? Hard to say, but you will never hear me bad mouth apple again. This thing is just awesome.
You are first on the list if I get another ipad and give it away!
Have never owned an Apple product, mostly because I began using computers in a business environment long before Apple was any factor at all for business applications.
But I’m surprised to read here that IPads do not allow use of a mouse or keyboard. A few months back I bought a cheap Android based tablet just to see what practical use I might make of it. I can attach a wireless mouse and keyboard to it (a generic one I already had).
Another big negative as I understand is that IPads do not come with Adobe Flash Player, which is used for many sites I visit. Also, Adobe stopped supporting Android last year (my cheap Android has the last Flash Player version for Android devices). I plan to buy a better quality tablet later this year, and for the reasons discussed it will probably be a Windows based tablet.

Yeah, I was no Apple fan, but for the same reasons, I mostly have bought in. I have not gone from PC to Mac...yet, but will consider it some day. That is a much bigger switch, with all new software, etc. Still not convinced the Macs are worth the money vs. PCs, either, but I am open to it. Also interested to see how much the other tablets catch up. I think the Surface and others have really advanced since the early android attempts. It is definitely going to be a competitive market for tablets, and Apple is going to have do some more innovation to protect their current advantage.
As others said here, the Surface is a much better productivity tool, and from a business perspective, I can’t wait to be able to travel with only a tablet. I can’t do that with an iPad.
I know you intended that as a joke, but it took me back about 60 years when I spent a lot of time doing just that.

Yet you have been told wrong by people who don't use iPads. There are quite a few Bluetooth keyboards, including full size and ergonomic keyboards that work fine with iPads. There are even drivers for mouses, but no one does much with them.. . . and there are a selection of FLASH enabled browsers such as Puffin, Skyfire, and Terra, although I have found FLASH functionality to be less than necessary. In addition, one can have full functionality of ALL of your Windows applications from your iPad simply by connecting to your home computer and controlling it with your iPad from anywhere you have a broadband connection. . . mirroring your desktop or any of your Windows applications on your iPad screens (including videos) in real time.. . Or even displaying them on a flat screen TV through AirPlay.
The reason Adobe FLASH is not supported on iOS or Android devices and Adobe dropped development for it on portable handheld devices is that FLASH is a noted resource hog that eats battery life and Adobe could not solve the issue without rewriting it from the ground up. . . which would require recoding everything on the web that utilized Flash. HTML5 was already rapidly replacing Flash functionality on the web and Adobe could not justify the investment in re-engineering Flash when it would result in obsoleting existing code. That would just force more developers into the HTML5 camp even faster.
Strange... No one ever told me you can't create on an iPad ... I'm half way through two novels completely written on my iPad with Apple's Pages word processor ... Over 250 pages each so far. Both have been critiqued positively by an author who had one of her novels on the New York Times Best Seller list for 22 weeks... she says she can't wait for me to finish them.
