Actually, I don’t think they are all that bad. They eat other insects, they don’t carry West Nile and they “play the maracas” in between meals.

Cicada’s are a beneficial insect, although I have no idea what a plague of them will do. I may look up some recipes and freak my vegetarian wife out.

Pan fried cicadas are considered a delicacy in some rural parts of Ohio. They’ve been showing up every 17th. summer for a couple hundred million years, only NOW the media decides to make a big production out if it.

....yawn.....lies, dead diplomats.....did you hear about the END OF THE WORLD CICADA STORM COMING??

They eat insects? I thought they just drank sap. What insects do they eat?

If you have a young tree planted they could really mess it up when they split the branches to lay their eggs, some people cover any young saplings with netting.
