When music WAS music. Tammy and Marvin were perfect for eachother. Such a shame that cancer took this young talented person.

I have a Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell “greatest hits” album that is one of my all time favorites.

I think she actually had the best female voice at Motown.

Motown before the Woodstock mud, and before the label’s permanent and complete move to L.A. that finished Marvin and the Tempts. That was something, indeed!

I think she actually had the best female voice at Motown.Beyond a doubt. I first listened to her in the 60s as a teenager and after all these years, when I listen to my old 33 1/3 record albums, her voice still sounds fresh and pure, almost an innocent tone to it.

I know, we had the Doo-Wop 1950's as well as the 1960's/1970's Soul and so on into the 1980's, it is a shame we fell so much with rap and hip-hop. Although this was a long time ago, my heart goes out to her since my mother is battling breast cancer although I'm thankful it has stayed in the breast and lymph nodes next to them in her case (no evidence of spreading beyond that, she will be on chemo with the intent to shrink them for surgery), but at least there are many more options now than then although brain cancer in her case is very tough. Back on topic, I think those were the true golden era of Mo-Town music.

I do not think Motown, Stax Records and pop music get enough credit for how influential they were in the 60’s integration of America.
I grew up in a Pac NW county that had 1 black person. But we were all dancing to Smokey and I had such a mega crush of Diana Ross (oh those eyes and smile still get to me). Tammi is right there with her.

The music machine behind Motown could give Atlantic Records and the Monkees a run for their prefab money!
