Wondering if any other TH-using FReepers have been having this problem.
I had been a regular on Townhall.com, with a valid user name and log-in for over 8 years. Recently I found I had been logged off, and the website didn't recognize the username/password combination when I tried to log back in. I tried the "forgot password" link, which sent a reset e-mail to me, and the link seemed to accept a new password. But it still doesn't work.
I even tried the "Sign up" link, but get this error message: "Signup is temporary disabled, please try again later." I've tried accessing my account on different computers, using different browsers, clearing my browser's history and cookies, but getting the same result.
Could I have possibly been banned?
I don't engage in threats or use filthy language in my posting, and although the discussions got heated, they were reasoned and no "hotter" than many of the liberals' that frequent the site.
I have also noticed the conspicuous absence of many other frequent posters on that board.
Has there been a purge, or has some liberal hacked the system to cause havoc?
It’s Big Brother shutting down opposition. not sarcasm.
Are they being audited?
I’ve also noticed that a lot of e-mail from conservative groups goes to my “spam” folder. It never used to do this.
My email is with yahoo and so far, conservative emails don’t go to spam. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Yahoo started to do something like that.
I know, but was thinking if my computer’s IP address were recorded by Townhall, it could ban me from signing up again just the same.
I’m not trying to be tin-foil-hat here, it’s just bizarre.
A lot of places do maintenance type stuff on the weekends. They might be upgrading their hardware or database. Or moving equipment.
This has been for over 2 weeks. And the absence of other regular posters is uncanny.
Ok. Maybe their database has had a problem.
Have you contacted them?
(trying not to get out the tinfoil just yet...although i’m trying to remember where i put it)
The website has always been extremely user UNfriendly and archaic, and there is no way to directly contact them. There is a messaging utility to contact tech suport, but even that doesn't work (doesn't send the message, just remains static.) No phone numbers, e-mail address - nothing.
You can’t contact these people - never have been able to. (Go to Townhall.com yourself and try to find it.) There is a “self-help” feature that asks the nature of your problem, but nothing gets sent to their techs.
Check and see what browser you are using....I belong to a community that was not friendly to Internet Explorer version 10...every time you tried to log on, it would not work. I went to another browser, even an older version of Explorer, and it worked fine.
Sometimes you end up on a “newer” version of a browser that really isn’t better.
so I would try an older or other browser.
SFF
there's a box to send them questions etc...
Yes, but the message never gets sent. The screen remains static.
One of the worst websites I have ever visited.
Don’t take it personally.
It’s just you...
LOL!!!! Just don’t ban me from FR, please!!!!!!
Now let’s see Hussein seize it.
