Spot on. The executive branch agencies are a massive transfer of power from states to the federal government. A federal government which is metastatizing into a national government. Exactly what the FF didn’t want.

Local politics in VA is totally different. The assembly would not send RINO's to DC. In my county the TEA Party is big. Do you you have road signs like this all over your secondary roads in non election years?

You’re daydreaming if you believe they’d send a Ted Cruz or Bishop Jackson. Not gonna happen. You’d get big RINO porker types like Tom Davis or Bill Bolling. Too many legs can’t and won’t shake off the gravy train.

That is, the bureaucracies that rule us

IMO, we have an administrative state because Congress likes it. An agency screws a voter. Said voter complains to congressional delegation. A rep or senator helps the voter deal with the problem created by Congress. Voter thanks rep or senator and votes to reelect these swell guys.

A Senate of the States prior to the 17th was jealous of their legislative powers and delegated darn little of it to unelected bureaucrats. Today, it works in their favor to assign legislative duties in wholesale violation of Article I Section 1.

You'll have to forgive fieldmarshal and impy, it is hard to think straight with their faces stuck to the underside of a Federal boot.

Ah, and here is the premier IL Combiner apologist angling for repeal of the 17th and giving unbridled power to the Madigan axis of evil. I’m shocked... shocked !

I ask again, tell me how the 17th better secured our liberty. Is there a single clause in the Bill of Rights that is in better shape today than a hundred years ago?

Wow. So taking power AWAY from politicians and giving it to INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS is somehow increasing the stranglehold of the federal government? Interesting. As George Orwell would say, "War is Peace". I also love how they ignore the “OR to the people” section of the 10th amendment, because it doesn't gel with their fantasy that the founding fathers wanted state governments to be allowed to do whatever they want.

You'll have to forgive central_va and 1010RD, it is hard to think straight with their faces licking the underside of a state government boot.

The irony of these state government cheerleaders scream about the 17th amendment, of course, is that it became law because their beloved state legislatures ratified it. (not to mention their beloved state government appointed U.S. Senators gave us the 16th amendment, which they retroactively blame the 17th for, because it apparently also enabled politicians to jump in time machines and enact all the bad stuff that happened before the 17th existed).

Likewise, the 10th AMENDMENT was added AFTER the constitution was ratified. According to their OWN logic that we must NEVER EVER EVER change the “original” constitution that the founders enacted in 1789, the 10th amendment must be evil.

I'm not surprised to see combine cheerleader 1010RD is in favor of repealing the 17th. Over on the Christie thread, he actually thinks Christie might have appointed Steve Lonegan. His delusions would be funny if it weren't so sad.

I’m winning and making a difference in Illinois. That takes compromise, particularly in America’s North Korea. Yep, I’ll work with other conservatives, RINOs, CINOs and Democrats on a case by case basis to move the ball forward.

I’m not a pouty purist posting. I believe in actions, not words.

Your pseudonymous ad hominem attacks amount to nothing. Jacquerie in battling it out in the arena of ideas. That’s where it starts. Inch by inch getting our country back.

By simply pointing out the importance of the Forgotten Separation of Powers, between the FedGov and the States will begin a shift in thought just like the one that’s become the ruling legal paradigm over the 2nd Amendment. Jacquerie deserves your praise, not your ridicule.

Take a look past your own myopia and think strategically and generationally.

I’m still awaiting a reply to my last post to you. What are you winning exactly ? You talk in meaningless platitudes. What is your personal agenda ? Of all the open and out Conservative activists from Illinois on FR, nobody seems to know you and you work at counter-purposes to them. Very peculiar. That you align yourself with individuals that seek to empower corrupt cliques in state capitals (the notorious Springfield) at the expense of informed voters does not place you on the side of the good, especially so in Illinois. You can’t even acknowledge the word “Combine.” Whom are you working for ?

>> Always the Yankees that are in love with the 17th. <<

Really, it's just us yankees? Have you checked what state Fieldmarshaldj is from? Last time I checked he's further south than you. The reason why you anti-17th amendment whiners will never get your way is about 90% of Americans support the 17th amendment, instead of having corrupt politicians choosing their Senators for them. It's not our fault you live in one of the FEW southern states that LOVES electing socialists to the U.S. Senate. Instead of forcing the other 49 states to have hacks appointed to "represent" them for life, maybe you could try convincing a few of your "conservative" neighbors in Virginia to stop voting for socialist Senate candidates. Or, as you anti-17th amendments types would say, "if you dislike how things are going in your state, MOVE!"
