Warriors Jesus Rifle & Valedictorian

Recent news is both disheartening and I am sure, confusing to some of our young people in both the Military and High school’s across this nation. When yesterday's headlines read, “17 yr. old Valedictorians speech “Our Father, whom art in Heaven…. ” goes viral” and today’s headlines read, “‘Jesus Gun’ controversy in US Military,” one might think, what’s going on and/or where are the personal freedoms, once the backbone of a truly free Nation?

Both headlines spotlight Warriors fighting battles neither started nor wanted. One fought half way across the globe and the other right here in small-town America’s backyard. Both are answers to attacks waged by radical cowards or Terrorists whose goal is the same, to eliminate all reference and worship of God (Christian of course) and to remove personal freedoms from this earth.

I am saddened and angered by the injustice perpetrated through fear and intolerance on this once great Nation and some of its people. Amidst a cornucopia of scandals breaking daily in Washington, two recent events highlight the state of affairs facing this Nation and show clearly the crisis of intolerance, and fear we as a country have allowed.

First, our Military’s recent edict for Soldiers to turn in their precision tactical scopes in order to remove the engraved Scripture addresses located on the end of the scopes serial no.

The company Trijicon Optics, who make the scopes, has a longstanding practice of incorporating the Biblical address of, John 8:12 and II Corinthians 4:6 into their products serial no. They also state on their web page that the quality and purpose of their superior precision products is to, “aid in the return of our Soldiers to family and to a grateful Nation.” However, some in this Country’s Military find the practice offensive and deem it necessary to dremel out the offending scripture address from Soldier weapons, immediately!

I presume this “urgent action” is to eliminate any “illusion” that America is involved in a Holy War. Well, I have a flash bulletin for those making this decision: WE ARE IN A HOLY WAR‼‼‼!

America was forced into a “Jihad” long before contracts were signed and the decision made to use an American based, God fearing, Patriotic company like Trijicon! The fear and spineless actions shown by these Military leaders is sickening! It is ludicrous to expect American Soldiers to be willing to die in this war when their Nation and its leaders, themselves, are unwilling to live and stand firm in the very truths and values they claim he is fighting for.

The Soldier fights to preserve the truths learned through faith in God and loyalty to the Country that same God gave him. He fights for the values expressed in Family and church of right and wrong, absolutes, responsibility to others, and consequences of actions.

The Soldier fights for the ideals of loyalty, love, and tolerance hoped for in peoples oppressed, but learned and expressed unashamedly by his ancestors.

Our leaders would do well to relearn the truths that once made America Great and which empowers a Soldier with the courage needed to face his enemy.

Americans are embroiled in another war waged in our own backyard. The people waging this war reveal their intimidation tactics in the story behind a YouTube video gone viral. A 17yr. old, high school graduate named Roy Costner was the unsuspecting target and fear was the tactic.

Raised in a small town where everyone is your neighbor and whose collective values are called “outdated” by the more elite folks found in most big cities today, Roy found himself forced into his own Holy war.

It seems the ACLU and the Freedom from Religion Foundation targeted his small town with their fear tactics of threatening lawsuits if God or Prayer was part of their High school’s graduation ceremony.

No one had lodged a complaint with either organization or the school and none of the towns people were members of these groups. These homegrown “terrorists of intolerance” invaded Roy’s community and bullied local school officials with threats of lawsuits and the monies it would drain from their tiny budget in order to fight them.

The school board caved into the outside groups demands, removing ALL God related programs not only associated with graduation but the school itself. They even went so far as to infringe upon the rights of their young students by forbidding their participation in a student lead, national day of prayer known as “Meet-you-at-the Pole.” Roy who has been a Christian since he was very young found himself in a battle that challenged his faith and the values his church, teachers, and community leaders had instilled in him.

Roy was informed by the school that the speech he would present as the Valedictorian of his graduating class would have to be “pre-approved” by school officials. This notification changed his focus from one of fun and freedom that this accomplishment and milestone would offer, to one of worry about what needed to be done concerning "freedom of speech" etc...

Roy spent the week leading up to his speech seeking out counsel of local church leaders and praying for the right answer. Why hadn’t school officials taken a stand about this constitutional issue and weighed their actions as this young man had done? What right did these groups have to interject their views on this town?

As you may know this young Warrior stood at the lectern on graduation night and opened with an unapproved speech hidden in his graduation gown sleeve. A speech that started with the Lord’s Prayer and the hometown crowd going wild with cheers!

All-the-while school officials sat behind Roy, in full view of the camera. They were stoic faced, silent, looking at the floor,( in shame I hope). This young man went to war without commercials at his side, but he was not alone. Then battled the enemy at the town’s gate. His feeling was that of a greater purpose than the cost to self. Shame- Shame- Shame to all the adults involved on both sides of this fight.

You would do well to relearn the values instilled in this young man and that once made our Nation great!

God Bless the warriors Who fight for us Both here and afar Amen
