It's safe to say Bill Belichick doesn't hate Tim Tebow after all.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday the New England Patriots are signing Tebow after all. Just in time for Tuesday's mandatory minicamp.

Way back in April, the Patriots were atop our list of potential Tebow landing spots because of Belichick's appreciation of versatile players and his love of all things University of Florida. But this news still comes as a surprise because of the timing.

Hmmm. Isn’t that where Christians are needed the most? Or do you prefer preaching to the choir?

Heh, see my reply below at #39...I would be flabbergasted if Belichick lets this thing get crazy.

I find this kind of move completely fascinating.

What if Tebow became a Paul Horning type of player? I have always thought the halfback option was a great way to keep a defense off-balance, but I admit my understanding of how that might be defensed nowadays with modern NFL defenses might make it more of a trick play. Since we don’t see it that often, it might simply be my ignorance that makes it a viable alternative in my mind.

My mom had something to do with this I’m sure-

...after she passed away, her beloved Red Sox won the world series-she never gave up hope on them and clearly had God’s ear and probably a front row seat ;)

- and now-Tebow; she loved the Pats just as much...I can see her smiling but then begin wagging her finger (like she used to do at the TV) and yelling down to the coach :”don’t screw it up, Belichick!!!”...

I miss her to bits and only watch baseball&football so I can remember how she used to swear under her breath during a game- (usually that practice was reserved for Rush/Bush as she was an Irish- Catholic Kennedy Democrat) or how she used to clap and yell: “Yaaaaayyy!” when they got a touchdown, a huge smile on her face....

So “don’t screw it up Belichick”-my mom is watching! ;)

End-around with a pass option.

I hope he goes well except playing the Jets. Then I hope he does really, really well.

Big smile :)

No doubt the Pats OC Josh McDaniel had a lot to do with bringing him in, seeings how he was Tebow’s first head coach in the NFL. I hope it works out well.

Tom Brady has a quite a few years on him. He will not be the PAtriot’s QB forever. Tebow has just started his Pro-career really, so if he is patient and the Patriotss want a backup they can train and mold, and prepare for the day Brady retires...or in case he is injured, Tebow could easily be that man.

Oh holy cow, there’s going to be a train wreck between my ears when I find myself rooting for the pPpppPppPp-p-p-atriots. ARGH! There [ptuiii] I said it. Yes, I’ll root for Tebow, even on the PppPPpp-p-p-p-pPatriots. [sigh]

I think I’d better go take a couple of aspirin now.

According to CBSSports.com’s Mike Freeman, Tebow will be tried at tight end.

Good move. They really use their TE's in New England.

Of course Tom is Number 1. No rational person thinks differently. However, Tim is in the absolute best place to get all that rookie training that he never was given under Elway and Ryan. His future looks much brighter now.

If he wants to play for a team, especially one willing to keep him as a QB, he doesn’t appear to have many options.

I think they will keep Mallet. If there is any coach in the league who can use Tebow in a few devious plays, it is Belichick. Heck, he might even put him in as the H-back...

Three or four times a season Brady takes it in from the one foot line. He does this inspite of hating to run. Tebow is bigger and stronger and I can see him coming in for those one foot plunges. No need in taking the chance of some linebacker breaking Brady’s nect when he can break Tebow’s.

I think his agent finally convinced him it was a position change or off to the CFL.

Plenty of ability to be an excellent tight end or H back.

I don’t think he is that man, but I do think he does several things for the Patriots:

1.) They have a talented athlete who may be at a point where he will try nearly anything to salvage his career. “Coach, you want a fullback? I’ll do it. You want me to try tight end? Give me the play book. You want to try a wildcat? I’m game. You want me to run back punts? I’m there. You want a guy to work with the third string receivers? I’m that man.” I think that is where he is.

2.) He is a character guy, apparently. If the coach tells him to contribute in any way, he will do it. He knows he isn’t replacing Tom Brady.

3.) If Brady is hurt, he could be a semi-competent replacement in the short term, someone who has played a few downs in the NFL. If Brady got hurt or was unavailable, and Mallet fell on his face, they could turn to Tebow and say: “Give it a shot. Show us what you can do.”

you do know that my wife is from Quincy MA and I lived there for years with her right?

MA is a liberal socialist hell hole, one of the most liberal states in the union and not one county is republican.

We might not be perfect but It’s a damn sight better than in MA and yea I have lived both and wife is from there.

wife is from there, still has family there and I lived for years there and yes it’s a liberal crap hole, hence the reason why we escaped the state.

I understand what you are getting at, I know many who vote D and yet have more social issues, not really about religion but because they find it sick and yes I;m talking about union guys.

Sadly many vote D because the union feeds them B/S , their family has always voted D or there are too many college kids who stay after school and transform the state.
