spray painted the n-word on his fence and on his boat. The vandal or vandals also defaced two of his cars.

That's a lot of spray painting to get one's message out to the homeowner. Usually the fence will suffice since it's a spray and dash crime. But a fence, a boat and two cars? Spending that much time walking around the guy's yard, somebody must have been pretty confident they wouldn't wake up a dog or be seen by the home owner or neighbors or vehicles driving by......
