An Arlington Heights man is suing his local police department after officers came to his home and confiscated his antique firearms and his valid Illinois firearms ID card (FOID card) without a warrant following a session the man had with a therapist.

In the lawsuit, Arthur Lovi, a 72-year-old Air Force veteran, claims the Arlington Heights police department — Arlington Heights is a suburb of Chicago and a village in the notoriously anti-gun Cook County — violated his Second and Fourth Amendment rights, causing him emotional distress.

He is seeking financial damages for the anguish he experienced as a result of the incident.

So, what happened?

Unbelievable. Now the gangsters that rely on strict gun control for law abiding citizens have one more defenesless victim to prey on. ChicagoLand Police State at its worse.

For the therapist, she felt obligated to report Lovi’s feelings about that first doctor. When the therapist spoke to the police she told them she didn’t believe Lovi was a threat to himself or others, but just wanted to go on the record and report the alleged threat.

Believing that no threat to anyone existed, the therapist nevertheless proceeded to cover her ass and report the matter to the police. Police, hearing the therapist recite that she did not believe there was a threat, nevertheless proceeded to cover their asses.

The police, fearing their confiscation made to cover their asses had exceeded their authority, attempted to cover their asses again by seizing our second and fourth amendment victim and submitting him to a psychiatric examination in an institution.

So we see the unintended consequences rollout from our spasms in reaction to publicized gun violence in places like Newtown.

When will we have spasms to enforce the Constitution?

Meanwhile, Tyrone and Julio Gangbanger walk the streets of Chicago with their ILLEGAL guns, not giving a DAMN about a pesky gun ordinance or a Gun-Free-Zone sign.

While the police were busy wasting their resources harrassing this law-abiding veteran, Tyrone and Julio Gangbanger robbed four people and held up two liquor stores.

I don’t look for trouble, but if somebody starts it with me, I’m going to stand up for myself,” Lovi said. “That’s just the way I’ve always been.”

but in the beginning, he did not stand up for himself... he did not insist on a search warrant... he was intimidated and gave in...

on another note--he ought to put his therapists name out there... i would NOT want to share my feelings with a therapist who cannot keep my thoughts confidential...

She stated she did not feel he was a threat.

So she broke client privilege. They should report a person if they feel the person is a threat to themselves or others. She stated she did not feel that way.

Yet she still disclosed their conversation to a third party.

exactly... so he should let the public know who she is and what she did... who would want to open up to her? he would have been better off going to a confessional at his local Catholic church...

This is what they do. They couldn’t get laws to confiscate legal firearms, so they find another way. Now it’s your therapist telling the cops. Soon it’s getting a prescription for Xanax, soon it’s for marital counseling, soon it’s feeling down, soon it’s waking up in the morning.

Meanwhile they deliberately and intentionally purposely leave guns in the hands of violent criminals.

Agreed. That therapist should lose his practice for betraying doctor-patient confidentiality without any actual threat. His name should be publicized, and he should be avoided like the plague (actually, I'd rather have the plague than have this traitor get his hands on my name) - shunned both professionally and socially by all decent people.
