Seventy House Republicans are planning a politically risky showdown with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to try to force additional debate on an immigration bill they say will mean amnesty for illegal immigrants and have dire consequences for the country.

The 70 members are petitioning for a special Republican conference meeting on the bill, a

“...but it’s possible some signatories might remove their names due to political risk”

And yet they’re seemingly ok with our soldiers being killed in Afghanistan led by a Commander-in-Chief who doesn’t even pretend victory is the objective. Not once has a single one of them had the guts to ask whether or not he was ever a citizen of Indonesia. What kind of stand are you expecting? Fool me once...

how does the republican party propose to win future national elections without expanding its base among white males, when whites will be a minority in this country by 2050:

and no, i am not saying amnesty for illegals is the way to go, but reality needs to be faced. if it weren’t for gerrymandered house districts the GOP would have also lost the House in 2012, along with the Senate and WH

Is this what the causes a “whistleblower” to fear for his life?

Maybe he should be whistling past the graveyard, aka, 0b0z0’s USSA.

70 members of the house standing up to Bonehead is, indeed, shocking news. Hopefully, they can recruit a few more.

If Bonehead continues to refuse to grow a spine, they might as well elect a Democrat as Speaker.

He’s talking about the earlier immigration (i.e. amnesty) bill. Even here, few will recall that there was little public mention of a provision in that bill that would have basically made cash for labor without new government paperwork, even for paying your neighbor’s kid to mow your lawn, illegal, along with the other outrages.

I personally wish the dictatorship of Barack Hussein Obama would start. At least we’d know what side everyone’s on.

IMHO your wish was granted at the time of his second inauguration!

You’re stalking me.
Among white males? Can i assume you meant Beyond?
are you some German Rubio?
You can worry about winning. I don’t. I care about being right. About doing the correct thing. The correct thing is to not reward people for committing crimes of which some equivalent committed by a citizen would result in prosecution. Thats really all i care about. If the values i espouse lose then so be it. Thats what elections are about.
Regardless it’s absolutely naive to believe adding 20-30mm people onto charity rolls here will equal a win at the ballot box or somehow create more revenue for the country. If anything they’ll pay no taxes as they will qualify for every deduction possible.

You are on the wrong site noob.

With your GOPe talking points,
New York times as a reference,
spouting garbage about republicans gerrymandering districts
(no mention of the dems rigging the elections)
and a very recent born on date,

I'll just remind you that this is a site for conservatives before I mention --

It’s times like this that I recall how Liberals always accuse us of being in lock step! :)

Hve you EVER seen any of this kind of internal debate within the Liberal community?

This is the "shocking news" that Glenn Beck claims is going to "rock the country".

Are you sure? It's hard to tell with Beck because it seems he's always overpromising and underdelivering.

i am not trying to offend you. and the NYT references data from the Census Bureau. and you infer that i think the gerrymandered districts are wrong; i don’t. that’s how politics is played, and democrats would have done the same thing

to advance a conservative agenda, conservatives need to win elections. the republicans have mustered one popular vote presidential majority since 1992.

at some point, i believe it is necessary to lose on principle. for example, goldwater in ‘64 is a great example, getting blown out but laying the groundwork for reagan in ‘80.

my overarching point is that conservatives need a message that has the support of the majority of the american people

thanks. i am not trying to imply that amnesty for illegals should happen. the “reality” to which i was referring was crafting a conservative message that wins elections

(I only caught the first few minutes of his show before I left for work, but what I caught was this)....

As Beck said this morning....basically he’s saying there is a fight coming. A Constitutional Crisis is in the works....

The House of Reps has had enough and about 70 members (who also hold Chair positions) are going to start fighting back and have signed on to this. The Tea Party Coalition and Constitution Coalition have had enough. They understand the country is on the brink and it’s over, if we don’t act. There won’t be a next election, unless something is done NOW.

The GOP is in revolt. Members who are speaking truth and not being politically correct, are trying to be silenced. Several Republicans are going to stand up in the House, because he believes Boehner is going to violate the Constitution to push this Amnesty bill through. A deal has been made with Reid, Pelosi, Boehner and gang of 8. And it will happen before 7/4.

There were spies for Boehner when Beck was on capital hill....they don’t trust their own party. These guys are so slippery that they can fool even the very elect....you don’t know who the good guys and the bad guys are, up there. The GOP is spying and torpedoing their own members. The Democrats didn’t do this to the Progressive movement. Instead the leadership of the GOP has tied their wagon to the Progressive movement. So now we have the Progressive caucus to cause the Democratic party and the media to cave and the radicals have control.....ending up in a 1 party system.

Boehners idea is let’s hitch our wagon to the Progressive Caucus. What the Democrats did NOT do is stand against the rebels in their party who were pulling you in the (stated goal) direction away from the Constitution. Instead the Repubs and Dems decided to stand against the “rebels” that are staying “Stick to the Constitution, it’s the only thing that will save us”.
