Let me get this straight.

They stuff this kid “In-Your-Face” with his mariachi costume, and it’s OUR fault?

...he has mariachi singers/musicians in the family and he loves mariachi...

Thanks, that all adds up.

The kid is lead singer for a mariachi band, which includes family members. He’s super talented, adorable, and an American from birth. He’s dressed in his normal performance clothing.

He and the band were on America’s Got Talent last summer and went far on the show.

Life-long Texans of Mexican heritage are abundant.

This sweet little guy is being used.

He looks adorable and sang beautifully and respectfully, from what I read.

This is a set up and he is being used.

The San Antonians are not a great bunch of idiots, they have a grievance for which they have very little congressional representation.

To incite Spurs fans is a dirty trick. They are not going to articulate the situation well, in general, and per the setting.

They would do better to list the grievance and address it to the perpetrators of this nasty PR stunt.

No city has done more to assimilate Mexicans, I would guess, than San Antonio. A broad enabling of illegal activity and ALL its trappings is something else.

People do not take well to invasion. Not now and not historically. San Antonio is on the edge of it and no one on the national scene is asking nor do they want to know.

But there is a lot to say.

And using this little talented guy is fighting dirty.

There is no doubt about it.

Here are the other racist tweets.

While many of them are over the top, since when is calling someone Mexican or an illegal immigrant "racist"?

The powers that be knew all along this would be bait, and are playing the racist card to the hilt.

Fabulous. and when the very good Mariachi Bands play at Mass or in an appropriate setting, it is wonderful.

It’s like Irish Dancing.

If the Irish illegals were taking over the Bronx in the same way, then representatives from Irish dancing would not be well received at Yankee Stadium. and anyone trying to mess with PR in that questionable city would be excoriated by the locals, maybe not the NYT, but they would be called out.

Shery’s daughter - (I’ll be getting my own account soon.) This kid is wearing the clothes he performs in. It’s possible that it may have something to do with the immigration thing, but it also may not. This is what mariachi singers wear. This is what he knows to wear when he performs. Also, there is nothing wrong with him being proud of his Mexican heritage but also proud to be an American. If you want to read more into it, go ahead. I feel it’s a shame that he has been subjected to such racist vitriol. We ought to know better, especially since we are ALL descended from immigrants to this country. I too support border security and do not appreciate illegals being given benefits and rights that our own citizens don’t get. But I seriously doubt this boy and his costume have anything to do with that. I’m proud of him. It was an honour to have him sing our national anthem.

Yes, and that is exactly what San Antonio deals with in many and various settings.

It is not going well, but the pontificators Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Ayotte, McCain, RUBIO, Cornyn, BO, the great Eight sillymen, none are paying a small rodent’s poop of attention to the situation.

It’s in your face all day in SA.

Bread and circuses.

Make sure we keep something in the news to distract the public's attention while Rome burns.

Here in my part of the country there is quite a bit of Irish Step dancing. They tend to wear Irish garb at the events. They are little kids who’s great grand parents came over from Ireland at the turn of the last century.

There is also a large polish community and I’ve seen then dressed in traditional costumes.

Are they illegals too?

Spend about a week shopping in San Antonio. You’ll see.

Until then, think about it befor opining.

Singing the Star Spangled Banner in a foreign outfit is pushing it.

Would a Mariachi band of adults do this?

And during a time in which the locals are being told by their representatives that they are expected to put the illegals above themselves in all ways?

They are favored for jobs, scholarships, college admissions, language, and now their costume of country of origin at this time during our national anthem?

The angry commenters are not the only ones not engaging their brains.

Traditional costumes are fine, but I’d love to see the Twitter response if someone wearing lederhosen sang the Anthem.

Really, what the hell difference what the kid wore? Perhaps it is his best set of clothes. Perhaps HE chose to wear what makes him feel comfortable to perform in. Perhaps he believes he looks good in it. Should he have worn a tracksuit with a headband and bobo’s? He didn’t sing the Mexican anthem, he sang the American anthem. And quite well, too.
I think we too often get so wrapped up in seeing political motives behind every action. Motives where none exist. Shadows where the Sun shines brightly.
He did good. He sang with spirit and panache. He actually showed more spirit than some of the players, bouncing foot to foot while he sang. God bless the kid for having the maturity and gumption to stand before thousands and sing his heart out.
To me, THAT is the American spirit. Do your best, do it right and be proud while you do it.

No.

Neither is this kid, most likely.

Did you want to say that the San Antonians who have done as much as any border state city to assimilate both illegals and legal Mexican immigrants, are racist and intolerant?

That would be very very wrong.

I grew up in NY during a time in which most kids MOST kids with whom I attended school had grandparents even parents from the ‘old country’, who spoke their native language at home. The kids were not allowed to speak that language outside even in the home. They are all (I keep up with the alumni) all productive American citizens.

I don’t know where this is going, this illegal enabling and accommodation. I do not see how it is good for anyone.

But I will say unequivocally, NO ONE does more to accommodate this huge influx of illegal immigrants and their legal counterparts than the San Antonians.

No one.

A little appreciation and attention from the country which is imposing this might be as well advised.

Uhhh...Francois appears to be a black dude - shouldn’t at least a thousand of those hysterical MSM articles been about a genuine problem: the perilous state of race relations between blacks and Hispanics in this country?
