A gang of high-fashion thieves that reportedly included three transgender suspects robbed the Burberry clothing store in Union Square on Tuesday in a manner that has become frustratingly common in the area. Six suspects, who merchants believe are members of the notorious Rainbow Girls gang, stormed the Post Street store about 10:20 a.m. and began grabbing the shop's pricey items. No one was injured, but the purse, a scarf and two wallets were taken. The total value of the items was not disclosed but police officials said they were not cheap.

Why did they name this gang “Rainbow Girls”? There is a Masonic youth organization called Rainbow Girls. I think they are associated with Eastern Star. I’d sue.

Rainbows are the official symbol of the LGBT peoples. I’m surprised this story was reported in this manner, since the media do not report stories which reflect badly on officially recognized aggrieved groups. Yet this story freely identifies the suspects as transgendered.
When black flash mobs do this sort of thing, the media call them youths or teenagers or young people, they are never identified by race or ethnicity.
