The second-most-nonsensical answer from last night's Miss USA contest, the winner of which gets to spend more time with Donald Trump, came from masters student Mary Margaret McCord of Alabama, who took on a thorny question about NSA surveillance. "Is this an invasion of privacy or necessary to keep our country safe why or why not?" asked a judge, with no regard for the English language. If the question was word salad, the answer was filet mignon.
"I think the society that we live in today, it's sad that if we go to the movies, or to the airport, or even to the mall that we have to worry about our safety," McCord said. "So I would rather someone track my telephone messages and feel safe wherever I go than feel like they're, um, encroaching on my privacy." So both, then?
We owe Edward Snowden for this one.
They can talk about lots of things. Why do they ask contestants in a beauty/talent pageant about current issues that are irrelevant to the competition.
If you are under 30 and a really good artist, really good musician, really good mathematician, really good actor etc, you probably have spent a lot more time on your art, your musical instrument, mathematics, your acting etc and have not thought out things like this very much. Of course, then the reason to ask about this is to make them swear fidelity to the left dominant culture. Sort of like asking questions about motherhood of contestants in the 1950s.
I will officially take the opposite position from yours.
In my early 20s I suffered the same malady. I was not just a low information voter...I was low information everything...but boy did I have opinions!
She is from Alabama...enough said.
Stupid can't be fixed.
...and vote, and get driver licenses. She’s in a Master’s program?
I understand, but it makes them less hot. Ask them about texting or American Idol or something stupid I care nothing about.
Better for people to wonder about your intellectual ability than to open your mouth, speak and remove all doubt.
Hahaha!
I’ve seen a lot of similar attitudes from people on here unfortunately.
Exactly on both points.
Without looking I’m guessing Elementary Ed.
Exactly. Just stand there and look hot; don't open your mouth and ruin it. (Michelle Malkin excepted)
In fairness to these ladies, I am sure there are a lot of intelligent people who would become tongue-tied and sound stupid when put on the spot on stage like that.
Precisely.
We should start our own beauty pageant. No talking, no talent. Just dresses and bikinis.
Really? You want another mouth to feed and clothes to buy? You want to have to share the bathroom and/or a bedroom? Utility costs with water and electrical usage? Can you really afford to have this living in your house?
Besides, what would your family and neighbors think?
lol
She was pretty much all over the place..talking about a paper then talking about how important documents are in Govt..I really didnt understand what the heck she was saying
These judges who ask the questions all have their own leftist agenda so I cant really blame these women for not knowing what to say..they know that whatever they say will have an affect on them having a chance to win
It is a mystery that people expect a beauty queen, a woman who is essentially an ornament, to answer a question more complicated than “What color is the sky?” wisely.
Who cares about her MIND? She is HAWT!
