Meet the Boy Scout with all 134 merit badges
WIS TV ^ | Jun 18, 2013 | Taylor Kearns

WINNSBORO, SC (WIS) - Logan Robinson is going to need a bigger sash. He's come a long way in 10 years. Back then he was just a 7-year-old Cub Scout who enjoyed carving polar bears out of bars of soap.

"For a 7-year old to have a knife and be carving something, it was awesome," said Robinson. "I was hooked right away."

Robinson achieved his Eagle Scout rank by the age of 13. Most scouts quit when they hit Eagle. Robinson was just getting started.

"If I didn't have something to focus on, I was just going to fizzle out," said Robinson.

So Troop 49 scoutmaster Jimmie Joyner gave Robinson a challenge: earn every single badge available -- all 134.

"I've heard there have only been about 180-200 boys who've earned every badge out of the millions of scouts," said Joyner.

Robinson had many weekends spent at scouting camps earning a few badges at a time, but he got there. Everything from dentistry to tracking and bugling, which was a pain.

"You have to learn I believe it's 13 different bugle calls, and I had absolutely no musical experience," said Robinson.

Those experiences that made the 2 1/2-year journey worth it.

"I mean I've gotten to see F-35's being built in person," said Robinson, "who gets to do that?"

He hopes many more will. Part of the fun is showing off the sash to younger scouts and hopefully inspire them.

Just don't ask for too much detail about the nuclear science patch.

"I remember doing it," said Robinson. "Every little aspect of it? Ehh."

My son’s troop has a scout who is Life at 13. He is an outstanding individual and very motivated. He will earn Eagle and several palms before he turns 18.

Our nation is full of bright, mature, dedicated exceptional young men who can do amazing things.

Too bad we have a government and society that dumbs them down.

Every now and then, a star emerges.

Did he get the, ‘Phone Call from Nobama for coming out’, badge?

You have shown on numerous occasions here that you buy into the absurdity that humans can endanger the environment in any broad or lasting way.

We cannot, for thousands of reasons, like the scant population of humans on this massive planet, and the very nature of creation with its self balancing mechanisms.

Its great fun for some to pretend to be powerful, but it is a joke.

It’s a shame you have no idea what you’re talking about. More so because you don’t seem to care. I guess that’s the definition of ignorant.

You’re welcome. Keep up the good work and don’t let any pious jerks hinder you.

That’s a disgusting thing to say.

With the eventual intro of homosexual scout leaders, do we have to guess?

It won’t happen and if it does it will be minimal. This whole thing has awakened the scouts to that possibility and they’ll be ready to reject the homos. Besides, homos won’t be allowed to be scout masters.

At present, yes... remember, the left plays for the long haul.

Not in my son’s Troop, that’s for sure.

There’s nothing we can do to stop gay scouts, but we won’t bend one iota to accomodate them.

“Those experiences that made the 2 1/2-year journey worth it.”

Ok, let me get this straight. 2-1/2 years (30 months or 130 weeks) for 134 merit badges. That averages to 4-1/2 per month (more than one ever week) for 30 months straight. Hmmm...sounds a bit much.

I have no idea what your comment about homeschoolers has to do with this topic. I’ve known homeschoolers and I have nothing against them. However, I don’t care if you are the son of two geniuses and are a genius yourself, being an Eagle Scout doesn’t hinge on being a genius, it hinges on being a servant leader to those around you and demonstrating that.

I’ve known many very smart people, kids and adults, and being smart doesn’t make one even a good leader let alone a leader of Eagle standards. In fact, usually, being overly smart tends to makes kids loners and adults snobbish, neither of which are characteristics of a good leader.

Yep, that’s what I say when I read about a kid given an Eagle Ranking at 13....whatever.

"I don’t accept that a kid earned, by himself, the rank of Eagle by 13."

Bingo...me either
