Following the revelation that Kim and Kanye have named their baby girl North West, Twitter has been flooded with comical reactions from fans. One female tweeter PamHutch said that she hoped the couple's baby becomes a fashion designer, so she could launch a diffusion line and call it 'North by North West'. And another horrified commentator JoeGeorgee, said it was like Liam Payne from One Direction 'calling his kid Period'. Brookestirling suggested that she will get married at 16, 'purely for a last name that isn't a direction on the compass'.

I was noodling with something similar but then I wondered if anyone still remembered North West Orient.

Not that I care one way or another what they call the baby but at least it’s something that a lot of people know how to spell, particularly those that took geography in school.

Yep. I can still remember their radio ads, with very nice jingle: “Northwest Orient! Airrrrr-lines.” In fact, the radio ad voice of Northwest Airlines became the voice employed at Dulles International Airport over its PA system announcing flight arrivals and departures, when the airport first opened. We aren’t talking about rocket scientists as parents and such goofiness can be expected. However Bill Lear (Lear Jet, 8 track tape player) named his daughter Shanda...Shanda Lear.
