KEYWORDS:
9 minute video about a guy who lost his hand but will continue as a drummer.

Tosin Abasi attended AIM.

I came damn close to amputation (left arm/hand) a couple of years ago. Didn't happen, but I won't be playing woodwinds anytime soon.

Been done before. The drummer for Def Leppard lost his arm in a car accident. He went on to play drums one handed.

Oh, yeah, I know. But this guy’s doing it with a prosthetic, which makes it kinda cool.

I’m completely okay with tattoos provided they aren’t on the face, but those piercings just weird me out.

I went through a piercing phase in college, had 9 that I can remember, but every single one of them has been removed and left nothing more than a small dimple where they nestled previously. Those ear rings stretch the skin, and he’s marked/marred like that for life.

Years ago I saw a saxophone player who lost his left arm from just above the elbow down. He had a loose-fitting socket type device made that would operate different keys depending on where his armed touched sensors inside the socket. It allowed him to play the sax again. That was much cooler than a guy beating on a drum.

Look up David Nabb. Saxophone professor at Nebraska-Kearney. Had a stroke a while back, and continues to play and teach.
