So in my 22 years of filing taxes, just got my audit letter from 2011, I owe $500. Not a lot, but considering I make less than $30,000 grand a year since the financial collapse... I find it odd that with standard children deductions I got audited.
Why would the IRS target someone who made less than $15,000 for that year? Seriously???
Make more now, but not that year. But they bother to audit me?
Your income makes capitulation more likely than from a person of substantial means.
Do you think you owe them any money or is this a fishing expedition?
I don’t know this, but if your income that year was significantly lower than previous years, I wonder if that sent up a red flag?
Not saying it’s fair or smart....just possible.
Clearly you are a fat cat, not paying your fair share.
Your post is somewhat ambiguous. The letter must tell you the reason for the deficiency..
Is it an audit letter or a Notice CP2000 where they indicate something is incorrect &/or missing from your return? Was there some income you missed reporting?
Consider that it might have been prompted by something you posted on FR, or elsewhere.
My prior year was almost the same.
You are clearly a domestic terrorist, because you are a frequent poster on subversive, counter-revolutionary websites, such as Free Republic.
Yeah, that’s what I’m guessing.
Your maximum tax liability for income of $15,000 with the standard deduction and two personal exemptions should be around $100...
What is the basis for their claim?
Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican Party?................
If you are self-employed and/or claimed a home office deduction, both are red flags.
Yep, I did contractor bookkeeping work for a business that year. Guess that flagged me.
that is probably what triggered it, if it is a number uusually low or high compared to what your normal trending has been. and if you normally itemize and that year you didn’t that’s another profile anomaly.
I was also audited. I filed a 1040EZ form. They claimed I owed $800. Probably because I typed FUBO too many times on the internet.
Just shut up and give us your money, serf! How dare you question us..........
Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Republican Party?................
That’s how it is now.
On their employment applications,Coors Brewery in Golden, CO used to ask people if they had ever been associated with the Communist Party or participated in anti-American activities. I bet they don’t do that today.
The end of America is here and nothing to stop it. Wake up!
