1.5 miles? That’s my guess without reading the article.

Penetrated 1/2 pine board at 440 yards. Conclusion; deadly farther than you can acurately shoot it.

The real question is: Where can you buy 22 LR ammo?

A few years ago I got in an argument here, with somebody who swore he had personally seen a .22 bounce off a leather coat.

In reality 25-30 yards 50 75 for a head shot

I’m not taking sides in that argument, but some 22.s are lightly loaded. Sub-sonic ammo is. And some only have the primer to propel it.

Take a frozen turkey to the range and wrap it in a couple of layers of denim. Your friend will be impressed at 100 yds.
I was looking for .22 this morning and you can’t find hot CCI anywhere. The “Velocitor” or 32gr JHP’s are not available. You can find some standard rounds...

Kill, yes. Accuracy is a problem.

I recentlyy bought five hundred rounds of the stuff. Imho still extraordinarily deadly at 25 yards.

“A few years ago I got in an argument here, with somebody who swore he had personally seen a .22 bounce off a leather coat.”

My first time shooting was with a .22 rifle. We were shooting at an old street sign which was laying on the ground, at least 100’ away. It was laying fairly flat to the ground, maybe on 30 degree angle. Each time we hit it, we heard a “Ping!” and figured out rounds deflected off of it and went elsewhere. We learned a lesson when we saw the shallow-angle holes ripped through the steel in multiple places (and no signs of any “deflections”).

Most low cost rifles will do very well out to 60 yards. The better rifles will go all the way out to 200 yards with the right ammo.

Good demonstration. Bought a Ruger 22LR rifle (it's PINK) this past January and kept clicking on ammo websites every day until I got enough ammo for personal defense. First choice of defense is a Ruger 38special with red laser attached. The 22LR is second after the handgun is out of ammo but I do have two speed loaders for the handgun if there is time to engage them.

Having weapons and ammo is fine along with the mental determination to not hesitate to fire them. Mental hesitation will get you killed. I won't have any mental hesitation if someone is trying to harm me. I have Pergo flooring and blood should clean up easily.

Pergo flooring

Now that you mention it, should be added to all "prepper" item lists, right after food, water, ammo, and a shovel.

“I was looking for .22 this morning and you can’t find hot CCI anywhere.”

I found 22LR CCI hollow points by checking ammo websites every day. Also put your name on websites to be notified when they come in. You will eventually get an email that they are there. Buy them immediately when you get that email.
