Aguila Super Colibri 22 Long Rifle 20 Grain Lead Solid Point Ammunition

Muzzle Velocity: 500 feet per second
Muzzle Energy: 11 ft. lbs

Aguila Super Colibri Armmunition has no powder, relying on only the primer to propel the bullet down the bore. The result is an extremely quiet rimfire round, perfect for close-range pest control or quiet plinking.

WARNING: These rounds are powered by the rimfire primer only. They must only be fired in handguns. If fired in rifles, the bullet may remain lodged in the barrel.

I’ve fired it and still have quite a bit of the stuff, which I use when I don’t want noise. It’s quiet and doesn’t penetrate nearly as well as standard velocity or high velocity. I wouldn’t bet my life on it bouncing, and I’m more than a little skeptical on anyone having seen it if the coat was on a person, but it just might bounce, especially if fired from a rifle.

I’ve got an $80 Savage Arms bolt action with hard sights. Beginners (kids) can hit my spinner targets at fifty yards. I think they range from 2-3 inches.

I’m sure accuracy tapers off at some point...if for no other reason there’s some drop...but its pretty good at fifty.

With back-up mags, the Ruger SR22 is quite a good personal carry option. The mags can be ‘adjusted’ to hold thirteen rounds with one chambered for double action first shot. The little tool is accurate toa fault up to 50 yards, and quite deadly since you can easily make repeated head shots because it lacks measureable recoil. BTW, the SR22 can be purchased with a threaded barrel ... just sayin’

I recently bought alot of the Colibri...have been firing it at an indoor range. A friend with a silencer tried some out...you hear the hammer more than you hear the bullet. Very quiet stuff. Also, anectdotally, after shooting some boards and just firing it into the ground...I consider it very deadly up to 25 yards. Amazing really.

What explains the shortage of .308?

Since they’re shooting holes in BIG bottles of grape soda, they should try and get Bloomberg to sponsor their “research.”

Thanks, Marcella, $60/100rds is not in my price range. I have thousands of rounds at the bottom of the local lake but, I’m always looking.
Hoping prices get back to sanity soon. “Cheaper than dirt” isn’t.

CTD needs to change their name ... they’re price gouging at that price.

This is no surprise to me.

As a teenager, I used to do a lot of long range .22 shooting, and it does pack quite a whallop up to about 3500 feet. Beyond that, it looses most of its accuracy and would be useless.

I am somewhat surprised that the Ruger 10-22 carbine was able to ‘find’ the board at 440 yds. Longer barrels are your friend with .22s.

Unless you are dealing drugs and get invaded by some addicts the odds of you needing to reload are very, very slim. It is the rare occasion when a homeowner who remains calm and gets off the first shot needs to fire a second.

The first shot, assuming it connects with the target is enough to inform everyone within 100 feet that you are pissed and not taking prisoners. Consequently they tend to hightail it out of sight and range.

May I suggest adding Crimson Trace Laser sight to your Ruger. At night they make aiming a breeze and short range shooting in daylight is deadly.

Remember a .22 rifle will easily go through your walls and into your neighbors house.

Fox Creek biker leather will stop a 22lr and may stop a 9mm. It is body armor designed to protect you from hitting the ground at 35 mph.

So maybe...

They will all “go” out to 250 yards. The question is will they go where you want them to.
I used to do a lot of metallic silhouette shooting with .22 LR’s and tested every type and brand of ammo I could get my hands on for accuracy at 25 yard increments out to 250 yards.
I concluded that some ammo had huge differences in shot to shot velocity and others were highly consistent. I also concluded that what shoots incredibly well in one rifle will not do as well in another nearly identical one.
