Tommy Shaw: great ‘80s hit, “Girls with Guns”

I’ll tell you now
And I won’t tell you twice
Where, when, and how
I got some bad advice

I never thought I could handle
A girl with guns
And let me tell ya
You can bet that I’m not the only one (oh no...)

Stand tall, don’t think small
Don’t get your back against the wall
Shoot straight, I can’t wait
Aim for the heart and fire away (No! )

I’ve come around
I understand today
She’s the target now
I’m gonna have my way

Everybody says,
“Don’t go messing with a girl with guns”
They don’t need you
They couldn’t love you
They couldn’t be any fun (Noooo)
Stand tall, don’t think small
Don’t get your back against the wall
Shoot straight, don’t wait
To Fire away...

An innocent bystander
Who forgets to look both ways
Who never tries to understand her
Won’t feel the heat ‘til it’s too late (So I tell you)

Stand tall, don’t think small
Don’t get your back against the wall
Shoot straight, don’t wait
To fire away (no, no, no)

Stand tall, don’t think small
Don’t get your back against the wall (aaahhh...)
Shoot straight, I can’t wait
Aim for the heart and fire away (uhhhhh...)

Stand tall, don’t think small
Don’t get your back against the wall (I’ll tell ya’)
Shoot straight, Don’t wait
To fire... away...

(All right! )

(Give it to me! )

(Come on! )

(Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh... ! )

(Eeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeee...)

Not much opportunity to check party cards. But there was probably a swastika somewhere on the uniform of each and every one. Sort of like the little red stars on the uniforms of the 93 fellows Carlos Hathcock took out.

I learned at a young age when a woman makes a challenge, just buy her dinner and let her win. They can be very calm and make awesome shots.

When did the District of Criminals change the laws to be more anti-gun?

“I want no part of that gal in Leopard skin of the right!”

I was thinking the same thing. With that look on her face I don’t think I would give her a gun.

I used to enjoy Gordon Liddy’s “Stacked & Packed “ calendar.

I wonder if she really killed that many. Stalin war propaganda was notorious for its lies. Not that US or British propaganda was any better.

Maybe or even probably propaganda? Sure. But myths and propaganda are seldom made up out of whole cloth. And Annie Oakley made a very successful show business career off the mistaken assumption that women can't be excellent shots. Besides smaller stature, steadier hands and breathing with less "yip!" might just be a secondary gender characteristic.

This could be urban legend, but I recall hearing that anti-terror squads who would be bursting into a room full of mixed gender targets were told to shoot the women first. They would react faster and would not hesitate to shoot back. If any military knows the value of arming its women it would be the IDF. And those are serious folks.

‘Overwhelming’: Female Skeet Shooter Talks About Making History With Fifth Consecutive Olympic Medal

Jul. 30, 2012

In 2000 she got bronze. Silver was 2008. In 1996, 2004 and now 2012 she hit gold. But that’s not all, with this latest medal, the 33-year-old Olympic skeet shooter from California has become the first American to win individual medals in five straight Olympics.

Kimberly Rhode won the women’s skeet shooting Sunday, tying a world record and setting the Olympic mark with 99 points – meaning she missed once in 100 shots. She was eight targets better than silver medalist Wei Ning of China and nine better than Slovakia’s Danka Bartekova, who topped Russia’s Marina Belikova in a shootout for the bronze.

Well EXCUSE me. She killed Germans, Nazis and otherwise. With maybe a few Hungarian, Finn, and Dutch auxiliaries thrown in.

Typische anal remanent Deutsch.

Your heroine, not mine! “Accomplishments” probably falsified as was the custom among your Soviet heroes, fighting not Germans, no siree, but some mythical ‘Nazis’ of undetermined nationality.

They invaded somebody else's land and murdered millions in cold blood. No sympathy here. And yes, the Russian people during that episode in history demonstrated countless examples of heroism. I would call her and her fellow troops heroes. That does not imply their psychopath Georgian commander was any better than Hitler nor the system he ran any better than Nazism.

Just as a quiet reminder, the point of this entire posting is "ladies with guns". Care to comment on that? All I did was give one famous example. The horse you've been riding is well and truly dead. It may be time to stop beating it.

You pick your heroes, I’ll pick mine. Certainly, no Soviet murderers will be my heroes, “ladies” or otherwise.

If you’re going to describe military snipers as “murderers” I know a couple US Marines to whom I’d love to see you state that opinion. In person.
