OK, for the sake of discussion let’s stipulate immediate sexual
preference equality in all aspects of society. Is there any reason
to maintain gay rights or gay pride organizations and any other
special recognition, as well? Sexuality is only one aspect of the
human condition. When will those of us who choose not to
flaunt our sexuality front and center attain the right to not have
to be exposed to the “in your face” antics of gays, bi-sexuals,
transgenders, etc? I can’t imagine that happening anytime soon.
When I was a teenager in the late ‘60s I was naive enough to
believe that the Civil Rights movement successes would lead
to a totally integrated America. What I learned was way too
many black Americans wanted the freedom to create a
segregated America but segreated on their terms instead
of a one for all and all for one society. The result has been
new types of racism, racism that goes both ways. This GLBT
crap is heading in a similar direction.
