PLAIN CITY A 51-year-old man was arrested on allegations of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after he slugged another man and later hit him with his vehicle in a dispute police said started with an argument over church seating.
Weber County Sheriffs Lt. Mark Lowther said officers were called to the Meadows ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints near 2300 North and 3600 West in Plain City at 10:20 a.m. Sunday.
Lowther said police are investigating the incident that started during a packed meeting that included a baby blessing as well as a missionary farewell.
Lowther said one party had reserved some seats in the chapel so they could be near the baby blessing.
Reports indicated that the suspect, Wayne Dodge, sat in the seating that had been reserved. As a result of his sitting there, Lowther said, words were exchanged between the suspect and members of the family who had reserved the seats.
Following the meeting, more words were exchanged between the suspect and a male member of the family.
Lowther said reports indicated that following an argument, the suspect hit the victim in the face. The victim went into the church to clean blood off his face, while the suspect went to his vehicle.

Mr. Tough Guy
Humor ping of the day!
Moroni made home do it.
Looks like a ahole who takes unofficial reserved seating a bit to far. “Oh don’t sit there or Brother Thickneck will beat you up, he always sits there.”
Capt. Moroni
Looks “temple worthy” to me!
Those crazy Mermans.....
Had me all excited. Plain City, wrong one.
My thoughts were of Plain City, Ohio. And the Der Dutchman Restaurant.
Does Plain City, Ohio still have that medical clinic run by a Dr. Adams?
I always got a chuckle driving through there and seeing the big sign out front that said “The Adams Family Medical Center”.
Was the top of this guys head bound when he was a child?
I don’t know about the Adams Family Clinic.
All I can think about driving through there is the delicious egg noodles and chicken. (and I’m not a noodle lover) :^)
I’ve never heard of reserving seats at an LDS service.
Me neither but I haven’t set foot in one for forty five years.
They do it at funerals.
Seats at funerals are saved for family members who meet separately as a group for a prayer prior to the funeral; then they come in to sit, following the casket into the chapel. No other congregation seats are “reserved” ... but people can of course save seats for someone who hasn’t arrived yet.
Pretty wacky story!

This one is Plain City No Ogden, as the exit on the freeway says. Or at least, it used to; they may have put a period on the sign in the years I've not been living in Utah.
Where to start??
