Just another piece of bothersome Americana.

Currently, there are no laws on the books regulating the trucks from playing music while they are parked.

Well then by God create one! Because we all know that is a prioirity we haven't even begun to think about.

Those awful ice cream trucks. Next thing you know they will try to ban Kool Aid stands. Oh wait...

Out of control public servants again. We're looking more and more like Nazi Germany with each passing day.

I swear some people just don’t have enough to complain about. Maybe they ought to move to Detroit and complain about the rundown state of the city.

I am not sure why the already on the books noise level ordinances and nuisance ordinances cannot deal with this anyway. Probably really don’t need more, just enforce what’s already there. As noise ordinances generally only come into play during a period of the night time, they could probably use the current nuisance ordinance to deal with it without creating another one.

And I am for nuisance ordinances and noise level ordinances. My rights end where they infringe on someone else’s and vice versa. If we’re all in a fixed confined neighborhood space I don’t have a right to drive them nuts with noise and neither do they. I don’t have a right to drive them out of the neighborhood with deliberate or not noise and neither do they.

I just pray that my dogs never figure out that there’s ice cream in those trucks.

Our trucks have ‘frosty paws’ on board for the dogs too...LOL...

I don’t see a problem with the trucks...even hearing one makes me smile.

Every type of food maker should be able to run his own vending business out of a vehicle, stationary or not, just not one that comes through 6 or 7 times a day blaring tinkly Christmas tunes in July. Another reason to hate summer. :) The cool weather this year in Indiana has at least slowed them down here quite a bit.

There is one truck that come though the neighbor that has a really annoying song playing. The song stops and “hello” in a even more annoying voice. Some trucks will turn off the music when they stop. One day while think about how annoying their tape was moved with compassion for the driver. He comes by and is gone in about 30 sec. The driver has to listen to that all day long.

I honestly couldn't imagine having to listen to "Turkey in the Straw" all day long, every single day. Never really thought about this.

Though I suspect the ice cream trucks in Long Beach are probably blaring something different.

When the ice cream truck came through our quiet suburban neighborhood, playing its song (which was more like a circus song back then), all of the neighborhood kids, including myself, first ran into our house to get a few coins for an ice cream bar or cone, and then ran out of the house as fast as we could to get to the ice cream truck before it drove on. I don’t understand why anyone would get so bent out of shape. The trucks didn’t stay that long in a neighborhood, and then they were gone for the day. Maybe it’s different now.

Now, it’s no coinage to buy them. Ran across an ice cream in a neighboring town (they are banned in my city) and decided to get myself and my kids an ice cream. For me and four kids it was just over $20. Some even take visa/mastercard!
