More than 130 dogs saved from a hoarder in California two weeks ago need to be saved again — but only rescue groups can save them now if there’s a chance for them to be pets someday.

...

The dogs are at the Devore Animal Shelter, but only because other shelters and pet lovers pitched in two weeks ago and adopted every animal at the San Bernardino County shelter to make room.

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County and some of the other rescues have been alerted about this situation.

Unfortunately this is the worst time of the year to save dogs, not enough spaces at the kennels or in foster homes for the Fourth of July holiday. And Devore has an icy cold relationship with rescues. Many of them are accusing Devore of inhumane treatment of its animals.

***Unfortunately this is the worst time of the year to save dogs, not enough spaces at the kennels***

They got room for dogs in NW Arkansas but no rooms for stray kittens.

I had to keep a kitten last year. She is now my baby. She is now a year old since I found her.

A little stray dog came up two months ago. She is so sweet, I can’t figure why someone dumped her. She lives here now.

Now that I think of it, most of our pets have been strays.

City of Irvine’s Animal Shelter will probably take a few as there are more kennel spaces than stray dogs in Irvine. For a public animal shelter they are quite efficient and humane.

I have, in the past taken in too many animals for my own good. So I guess I could see how it could happen....but 130???

There would be no way the average individual could financially care for that many animals. And absolutely no way to give them the attention they need.

What may have started out as a good thing...went south.

The woman that we rescued our Noiree from had about 40 dogs and had been told that she had 2 weeks to get rid of all but 2 or they would be confiscated.

When we went to her double wide the place was a mess. she would just throw the food on the floor (Bare plywood in places). I wish we could have taken more.

Unfortunately the preliminary report from our rescue team today is not good. The majority of them are or have become feral and will have to be destroyed.
