International agreements to lower greenhouse gases like the Kyoto Protocol have proven to be unenforceable, but zoning laws have real teeth. Thus global warming activists have begun to work on the municipal and state level to pass zoning laws that mandate "net-zero" greenhouse gas emissions in new construction, referred to as Net-Zero or "Zero Energy Building" (ZEB) or "Zero Net Energy" (ZNE).

When we built new in 2001, it was my wallet, long term, that I wanted to protect. We put in a ground source heat pump, super insulation, best windows, etc. No one had to mandate anything...
Roger that. For the most part regular everyday folks do what’s right without govt interfering. Sadly they love poking their nose in. I have a good buddy who is re-modeling a house on his farm in KS and is doing much of the same thing as you. It’s costing him a bunch initially but in the long run he’ll recoup his investment easily. Bottom line: It’s your wallet. (We have the mandated “low flow” water saver toilets and I hate them! Uses about 3 times the water to do the same job as the old high capacity tank WC’s. LOL!)
When these things first came out, they wouldn’t flush water...
Now all they do is flush our cash down the toilet.
you just flush them 3 times and you get better results
“Sometimes” that’s what needs to be done. Plus keeping a plunger handy too. LOL! Never had that problem with an outhouse.
