The old I-280 and Buckeye Basin Greenbelt Parkway bike path is not safe to travel. It is littered with broken glass and stones.
There are gangs of kids loitering and blocking the path, trying to prevent cyclists from passing through.
Monday, June 24 2013, three boys attempted to attack me and prevent my passage. I recorded the event with a GoPro camera mounted on my bike.

Is a CCW permit from Fresno valid throughout CA? Can a resident of another county get one?
But the race-baiters insist that there should be no place in America where a person has to be scared about passing freely.
Ha.
Whites know there are entire districts that we simply should not walk.
If Obama had a brood of children they would look like these thugs.
In the past, I would ride bike paths in late afternoon or early evening. I'm not likely to do so again.
little bastards (most likely)
As fast as the guy was going, that idiot would have broken his foot or ankle if he’d have connected with that kick. He’d have looked like a thanksgiving wishbone.
Indeed, it is about 75% likely they are fatherless.

That would take some serious bike-fu skills. :)
carry a can of pepper spray and give the sob’s a shot the next time they get in your way.
you have the right to remain safe and to ride unmollseted by the virmine.
its also a great idea to record video for evidence of the crimes committed against you.
If you can get a cab to come to your location after dark. There are places in lots of cities that cabs won’t go to at night. I got stuck at one of those locations once. Luckily the Mexican cleaning couple were just finishing up and I gave them $20 to give me a ride to a motel on the other side of town.
Pepper spray is expensive.
A better option is a spray bottle filled with mostly water but a little bit of dish soap and two or three tables spoons of ammonia like you use to mop a floor with. You could rob a store with that concoction as it works like tear gas. If the police ask whats in the bottle you can honestly say “soap”
The issue is that even a pistol is not much good against an ambush.
There is no real answer to the problems created by the liberals in inner cities that is worse than I want to write about.
I bike all over San Jose and the hazard on our trails are homeless and addicts living by the creeks next to the trails. I created a handle out of 550 lb. paracord that is attached to my 33oz stainless steel Oakley Water Tank that I keep in my bottle cage. Very effective weapon to swing at someone’s head. (If I ever do, I’m ditching the cord because it is “illegal” as a flail).
I have a 5lb Kryptonite lock in the back loop of my messenger back. At night, I carry a surefire tactical flashlight on my strap pad to wreck the night vision of an assailant, plus it has a crenelated “striking bezel” as an impact weapon.
In my front pocket, I have always have one of my three Kershaw knives with speed-safe as well. Luckily, I’ve had no problems even riding in the Tenderloin of San Francisco. I made a wrong turn once by a housing project up there and rode as fast as I could with my knife in my hand. As a general rule, I stay out of Oakland or places with a lot of Trayvons around.
I plan to move back to Arizona or go to Texas in the next couple years. Then I can just carry a handgun when I’m on my bike.

The thing about pepper spray is that it will not only incapacitate most people to the point their drooling uncontrollably is they are also marked as the perpatrators because the stuff is bright orange and its very hard to remove from yourself and clothing.
Just be sure to get a large can.
It’s legal in most of the 50 states.
What else is new? This is America now. Only wealthy people who can afford to live in gated communities can enjoy things like “bike paths” and “parks” and “beaches.” The rest of us pay for them, don’t dare use them, and don’t dare open our mouths about it.
Celebrate diversity!!!

Intriguing. How big a spray bottle?
I also used to bike all over the South Bay, but I’m too old and slow to dodge the bums these days. Stationary bike in front of a TV is a lot safer. :)
