VIDEO: The Secret World of Gold

Anybody else see this documentary on the History Channel this past weekend? Apparently many governments around the world are running a scam to make people think they own gold they don't have. Ft. Knox? Probably very little gold left there since no audit since 1954. The Germans deposited their gold reserves in the USA and now can't even access it.

I would love to ask the Secretary of the Treasury if he knows how much gold is still left in Ft. Knox.

If I were the Germans, I’d be pursuing this aggressively. Anyone who trusts the 0bamabots with their Gold is a lunatic. I feel sorry for those whose gold was in America’s hands the day he took office. There is absolutely no guarantee the gold is there. Team 0bama are foxes, and I would not trust them with my chickens.

Germany appears to be waking up to a reality for which central banks around the world have been preparing: the dollar is no longer the world’s safe-haven asset and the US government is no longer a trustworthy banker for foreign nations. It looks like their fears are well-grounded, given the Fed’s seeming inability to return what is legally Germany’s gold in a timely manner. Germany is a developed and powerful nation with the second largest gold reserves in the world. If they can’t rely on Washington to keep its promises, who can?

What do you mean? In 1974, they opened the doors to 1 gold room and let reporters in for a ‘citizen’s audit’. That’s good enough for me...

I’ll never forget watching some bimbo from CBS put a gold bar on a scale wobbly held by some other reporter and declare “yep, the gold is here alright!”

“The world is a very risky place right now for an investor,” is the cautious manner in which Grant Williams (of Things That Make You Go Hhmm infamy) begins this excellent presentation, even though he notes that “the general perception is that there is very little risk,” as all markets from equities to bonds (and even risk itself) are priced as though 2007/8 never happened. It appears, Williams notes, given the market’s perceptions that, “all the problems are behind us.” He chides, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” Williams focuses on the corruption of traditional price signals by Central Banks’ ZIRP (and LSAP) policies, financial repression, and the possibility that the gold leasing market is about to fall apart - because one of these days, someone is going to ask for their gold back and be told they can’t have it.
