TORONTO – Detroit made history Thursday afternoon becoming the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy. If the bankruptcy filing is approved, the city’s assets may be liquidated in a massive auction to repay the city’s estimated $14-20 billion debt. But rather than seeing the former hub of North America’s automotive industry picked clean by creditors, Global News puts forth another suggestion:

A British/Canadian army captured Detroit without firing a shot during the War of 1812. At the end of the war, they made us take it back. This is why we lost that war.
If Canada buys Detroit they have to take the populous, there is no deal unless they take them all.
If they agree to that, they can have it for a Canadian dollar IMO.
Canadians might be poor tippers at USA restaurants, but no need to punish their whole country for how a few clueless and rude tourists act in public!
Can we give Detroit to Mexico? It would be a refreshing change of affairs for us to give them our problems and not the other way around.
It’s actually called “down river” and is not all that bad. Mostly white working class. East Detroit is where you need to stay out of. I live about 45 miles away in farmland. The guys in the sub have already put together a zombie response team. We’re ready.

We’ll trade Detroit to Canada for a three-legged cat with one ear and half a tail. OK OK I was shooting for the moon there. This is my final offer. We will trade Detroit to Canada for a hockey puck. Oh, that’s right, we already have Obama.

It’s a little extreme, but that is one way to get rid of gophers.
Only if they can dump what caused the mess in the first place which means firing everyone in the city government.
I think they would have to spend a lot of effort pacifying the place before it would be suitable for habitation or investment.
I doubt that Canada would take Detroit if we paid them to do it.
If they want a Canadian NHL team with a decent chance to win the Stanley Cup....
