Rawhide is back on tv again on the amc channel. There is a marathon of Rawhide episodes back to back these week followed by western themed movies on Saturdays.
Rawhide is on at 11 am on Saturdays and has been on for a couple of weeks. Head em' up, move 'em out! :^)
The Blue Fire refers to St. Elmo's fire which is a strange weather phenomenon when there is a blue light around objects. The ending scene features Lucky chasing the stampeding herd during a lightning storm. He is hit by lightning but even after being struck by lightning he still stays on his horse rounding up the cattle until they quiet down. He was rounding up the cattle even after he had died. It is a truly memorable scene and to me, it is reminiscent of the scene in the movie El Cid in which El Cid is tied to his horse after his death and rides out to fight the Moors.
I love Rawhide because it is about the mystery of the elements and man and animals struggling to survive. It is mystical for that reason. One of my favorite movies is “Moby Dick”, the 1956 version with Gregory Peck. It has the same theme of the mystery of nature, life and death.
Funny I was thinking about Danny Kay recently as I have young grandchildren and I would like to get my hands on the movie “Hans Christian Andersen”. I love the song “Inchworm”.
Inchworm, inchworm, measuring the marigold,
seems to me you’d stop and see how beautiful they are.
Sweet song.
Did Danny Kay have a tv show?
Do you recall the Mary Robbin’s song “The Master’s Call”, it has special meaning for me, but it also fits your Rawhide episode.

A lot of people seemed to have liked him.
Anyway, he is Mormon now, he became Mormon in 1994.
“Famous Dead Mormons” http://famousdeadmormons.com/index.php?id=126
was he alive when he was baptized a mormon?
Well, not exactly....
I can see where the fact of him having been dead for a couple of years could lead some to doubt his personal commitment to the supposed conversion.
Bishop Romney used to conduct some of those baptisms, and he is like, totally credible, or so they say.
He did in 1963-64, because that is when I worked at CBS..
lolz
I wonder if I’ll become a Mormon after I die?
haha
Mormon AND Democrat, it’s in the stars.
They didn't include his cast or crew, I can tell you that.. as an example I worked the episode that co-stared John Ireland.. My mother loved Ireland movies, so I flew her in to come on the set and perhaps meet him.. When I met him in the morning and told him about my mom, he invited her to lunch with he and his wife at the commissary on the lot.. She was so thrilled, but when Connors walked by he looked at Ireland and the two women, and said he thought Ireland .."had died years ago, and by the looks of the women he now attracted, he probably wished he had"..
Thanks.
I went on youtube but I cannot get my flashplayer to work. I don’t know what it is, it used to play just fine but now it doesn’t work. I have to ask my daughter maybe she can help. I am all thumbs when it comes to computers.

Thank you, really cool.
You don’t understand I’m really really dumb when it comes to computers. However I can go on the internet and send emails. The computer jargon is like Chinese to me. This is why I have smart kids. :^D
Rowdy Yates....sigh.
Thanks. I have collected some old magazines from the era. There are some that have quite a lot of information about him but I always like to learn more.
