The whiners could go to whatever flavor of Linux turns their crank, or maybe a Macincrap with it’s conveniently overpriced OS and blingy hardware.
If they are still using Windows of any kind it is because Windows will provide capability and run software that Linux et al won’t. Running Win 8 on a non-touch tech machine? Slap yourself for doing that, load Win 7 or upgrade the machine to touch tech.
In the work I do I’m a poweruser and nothing I use or do would work well, if at all, on the other alternatives. Use the OS that makes you putter flutter and stay away from those terrible Microsoft products; spare the rest of us from your whining.

I don’t want a touch screen. Of course by the same token you really don’t need a touch screen for 8, there’s really no functional difference between a mouse cursor and your finger, except the cursor doesn’t leave Cheetos crumbs on the screen.
