Post 15! See Post 15! OneWingedShark has your answer!

Ctrl+Shift+T opens up the last tab you closed!

Fantastic! The things you learn on FR! (shaking head in amazement)

That’s a good tip. I’m using whatever my droid runs on when it’s in my web top device. Google Chrome, I think.

"aside from removing the Ctrl and W’ keys?"

Or, you could remove the Ctrl and W keys, then switch them, and see what happens...

Go get a free copy of Keytweak from here: http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/

The manual (pdf) is there also. Keytweak lets you turn off keys and reassign keys.

For example, on my keyboard I have the Caps Lock button turned off cause I keep hitting it by mistake. On my elderly notebook, I reassigned the right Alt key to be the Windows key as the notebook didn’t have one.

Disabling shortcut keys in general requires a registry edit - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-desktop/how-do-i-change-the-windows-7-keyboard-shortcuts/0110d32d-66c0-4ce7-8682-eeb896e80c3f?auth=1

Looks like Firefox has a plug in - http://gettingeek.com/disable-ctrlw-close-tab-shortcut-restore-a-closed-tab-firefox-3-68.html

It happens because I’m a sloppy typer, I guess. The CTRL button is directly below the SHIFT key so when I want to type a capital W and I press CTRL and the W key instead of SHIFT and W....boom my page is gone.

I just did it making a thread reply right before I posted this thread.

I don't know how to re-assign them, but this is pretty cool...

Life-changing Keyboard Shortcuts

First, the shortcuts that are so fundamental to computer use that you'll wonder how you ever lived without them. Almost all of these shortcuts should be performed with the LEFT hand, with your thumb on Alt or Ctrl.
The space-cadet keyboard!
Really Neat Keyboard Shortcuts
This next block of shortcuts is for the power users, the administrators, those of you that want to squeeze just a little bit more out of your PC. These shortcuts are nearly all Windows Key combinations, so first... a little bit of trivia (you never know when you might get asked about the Windows Key in a pub quiz!).

The Windows Key (the one with the flag on, next to 'Ctrl' and 'Alt') is a relatively recent addition to modern keyboards. It's functionally identical to the Mac's Command Key, and both of them originated on the awesomely-named 'Space-cadet keyboard' at MIT. Along with its bastard cousin the 'menu key' (I can only assume that key was thrown in for special people with one-button mouses), it started to appear after Windows 95 was released. And now on with the shortcuts!
Note: these shortcuts all work with Windows 7; most of them work with Vista -- and only some work with XP and earlier.

Kinda Cool Keyboard Shortcuts
This last section is dedicated to the shortcuts that no one really knows about. These are fairly obscure, and in some cases completely useless, but who knows: maybe you'll find something useful!

Wow! How cool is that!

Ctrl+Shift+T even works if you've typed material in to the page before you deleted it!

I opened up a "Post Reply" page, typed some stuff into the "Your Reply" box, then hit ctrl+W to kill the tab.

Then, I hit Ctrl+Shift+T and not only did the tab come back, but the text I typed in came back too!

People (millions, actually) have been complaining about the absence of an Exit key. They are able to enter by pressing the Enter key, but how does one exit?

Here's a new, improved keyboard.
