>>Most of human history predates the development of agriculture...and pottery.

That depends on what you call history. Pottery predates “history”—the time that we call prehistoric. Have we actually found prehistoric animal bladders that were filled with beer?

That’s why paleoanthropology isn’t real science. ;-)

Pour it on some burnt potatoes and week-old milk and you have poutine ;)

Conversely, I was contacted a year or so ago by a college buddy that read my wife’s blog (We Travel When We Can) after about 40 years since I last saw him. He was seeking to reconnect with those of us who still gather after nearly 50 years since we graduated.

He and his wife are conservative souls that have been living the nomadic RV life for about 12 years now. They have been everywhere several times. Their home of residence is a Texas town that specializes in taking care of folks like them. They have drivers licenses, voting registration, mail box, cell phone numbers etc etc from that Texas town. their mail is forwarded to where they presently are. They have satellite internet and Tv.

They are mid seventies now and are building a house in Texas. It has an adjacent pad to park an RV with electricity, water and sewer for guests.

Their real life was semi-nomadic. As a civil engineer with several of the world class engineering companies, they moved from project to project and house to house. They have led very interesting lives and have friends scattered all across the country.

This article is an attempt by a pair of chardonnay sipping urban libs overwhelmed by the mind-boggling vast expanse and character of the West to communicate their awe to fellow urban born/raised peers from the comforts of the capsule which brought them there.
