The End Of Cat Allergies?

For those suffering from feline allergies, a bright new hope on the horizon could relieve both their symptoms and their cat-adoring friends. Imagine the symptoms caused by an extreme allergy - the sneezing, itchy eyes, and trouble breathing - being a thing of the past. Imagine a person who was unable to be in the same room as a cat suddenly being able to stroke one without consequences. That future is closer than it has ever been before.
Incredible research at the University of Cambridge has finally unraveled the cause of the raging, unnecessary immune response to cat dander. A single protein in the dander interacts with a common bacterial toxin in the environment, and is then misinterpreted by a specific immune receptor known as TLR4, which causes the body's immune system to overreact.
Development of medication to inhibit TLR4's response is already underway, so the ability to stop the symptoms of a cat-fur-induced allergy attack is likely to be just around the corner. It all boils down to the freedom to listen without fear to the sound of a cat purring.

This is NOT good. Cat allergies have kept me single. If she finds out that there may be a cure.... I'm toast.

Tannic acid spray for destroying cat dander left in couches and carpets causing asthma.
Make you own: 5%-10% solution of tannic acid in water.
You can buy your own chemical grade tannic acid on the internet.
Saved me from moving out of an apt. that had cleaned carpets, but unknownst to me there had been a long term cat there previously before I moved in.

My ex had a Bengal. They are very cool catz. Hardcore stalker. But got along great with the dog. And they are beautiful.

It sounds wonderful and my TLR4 sensors are definitely hyper but in suppressing them what else could go wrong? I’d rather know what that “common bacterium” was and work on removing that.

Simply point out that you’re waiting until 5 years after FDA approval, so you can be aware of potential side effects.
On the 0 - 5 allergy scale, the doc actually wrote a 6 in my records.

I don't have the allergy, she does. I've got the catz. They protect me. Or did... ;)

The last barrier to feline world domination has been removed. They still have claws. Lately they've been dominating my arms and stomach.

Parasite makes men dumb, women sexy The Sydney Morning Herald ^ | 12/26/06
"
A common parasite can increase a women's attractiveness to the opposite sex but also make men more stupid, an Australian researcher says. About 40 per cent of the world's population is infected with Toxoplasma gondii, including about eight million Australians. Human infection generally occurs when people eat raw or undercooked meat that has cysts containing the parasite, or accidentally ingest some of the parasite's eggs excreted by an infected cat."

I’m allergic, but I love the critters. I wish they’d hurry up with the cure so I can have a cat...and also visit friends with cats.
