This thread is full of people who cannot read.

Come on...whether you realize it or not...Freepers are all we have. The rest of the world has gone bat guano crazy.

You may not like us...but we are your brothers and sisters.

Relax...and make some peace with these guys.

I have been here a long time. I know Freepers are good guys...but they do get misdirected from time to time. But some of your best friends are those who you might have disagreed with.

Chill a bit.

“Pit bulls used to be a terrific breed.”

Bert Colby LEADBETTER was born on 20 JAN 1907 in Lynn, Essex County, Massachusetts. He died on 2 FEB 1909 at Newburyport, Essex County, Massachusetts.

The next information I have is on the tragic death of this young boy at the age of two...
Elizabeth had a brother John P. Colby who lived at 21 Franklin St., Newburyport, MA. Apparently on February 2, 1909 while visiting at the home of John P. Colby, 2 year old Burt Colby Leadbetter was attacked and killed by one of Mr. Colby’s bulldogs when the toddler apparently got out into the dog kennel and picked up a dog bone and was attacked by the dog who snapped the child’s neck.

John P. Colby is the guy most responsible in the US for developing the pit bull breed (some will tell you they aren’t a breed) Even today “Colby” pit bulls fetch a premium. Google Colby pit bull and see what comes up. Colby bred them and raised them to fight other dogs. In 1935 or so he wrote what is probably the Dog Fighting Bible.

30 years ago, my behind.

No. You are emotionally wrapped up in you’re own world. I don’t dislike dogs (though I’m a cat person). We had a Shelty mix for a while...damn good dog.

My point is, not everyone is a responsible pet owner. Some people have aggressive dogs and use them to intimidate others or even use them as weapons. Some are just brain-dead to the actions of their animals.

When it comes to the point of protecting your children, or self, you do what you have to do, especially if the “owner” will not control their animals.

I’m sure, from what you say, I would have no problem with your dogs. It’s not difficult to tell an aggressive pet (and owner) from a normal one. My new neighbor has a dog and we get along fine....it’s not aggressive, though it does like to eat the cat’s food.

What I won’t do is wait until my kid is in the hospital, with an eye ripped out, before I do anything.

I love the Rossi Circuit Judge !! 410 shotgun shells OR .45cal pistol ammo

it is a full length rifle with revolver barrel.

but If the SHTF you can ‘modify’ it and you got a nice handgun

What I’m saying is, obviously you are a responsible pet owner. You know your dogs and how they behave towards others. RoosterRedux’s situation is completely different.

My argument is against people who think the whole breed should be abolished because of bad owners as evidenced by the original poster. Pit Bull dogs are high maintenance animals. They need human companionship and interaction to be the dog that shows a positive disposition. No one should have one that they keep cooped or on a chain all day long.
If a Pit Bull dog is in a situation to mingle with others, the owner is responsible for its actions. Period.

Because the neighbor will give you trouble too. I tried your way. The lug nuts on my car were loosened and the brake lines cut. I’m lucky my husband noticed it before I left for work.

I never said to use force. I said to make animal control’s life a living hell until they take the beast out of the neighborhood.

I lost two cats and the neighbor woman lost her cute little dog and you think I should say, “Hello neighbor, would you mind not letting you dog kill my cats again?”

I swear the post on FR are getting so absurd these days. The guy had a freaking killer pitbull for goodness sake!!!

Your story is the very reason to, perhaps, not discuss the situation, but take action. No point in painting a target on your back.

I like Chet99. Leave him alone. Your name calling is not for here. It is lazy, means you can’t think of a legitimate argument.

trisham is one of those blind, and brain-dead dog owners. She would never admit something was wrong with her dog, even if it killed or maimed a child.

Again, for the third time in this thread...my dogs do not ever leave my property. They are under my direct supervision 22 hours every day. The other two hours they spend protecting my wife. Monsters? Hardly. Big babies is more like it. All it takes is one harsh word from me and they’re hiding under the bed.

I hope they don’t keep replacing it with another dog that is just as bad. It can become time consuming dealing with the problem over and over again.
