As much as I hate to say it, it's a "cultural" thing.
The taunting isn't relegated to pro football, it applies to every team sport that involves black teams. Softball, basketball, you name it.
Decades ago (70's - 80's) I used to umpire softball games in Detroit which involved many black teams. I had to give it up do to the violence which often occured following the back and forth taunting by the teams..it was relentless.
I am from the “act like you’ve been there” school. Your attitude should be “We scored on you. Big deal. We’re going to be doing that a lot today.”
I always enjoyed watching the fake hand grenade. Seven or eight players huddled around the ball then they all fall backwards at the same time.
Always cracked me up.
Football is losing me with all these rule changes. I was a rabid Broncos Fan in the 80s and 90s...now, other than Manning, I don’t think I can name anybody on the team. How sad is that?
This rule is reaction to players like Terrell Owens and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, in my humble opinion....
You want to stop the excessive celebrations?
Throw the penalty flag and void the points just scored.
No more endzone dances.
