Plus for those who did, capturing and enslaving the native populations came quite naturally. Present day Liberia, like much of west central Africa, had large number of their indigenous people captured and sold into slavery by mainly Muslim tribes of west central Africa. So the people they were enslaving were quite literally the descendants of their enslavers and collaborators.
