WASHINGTON – Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was sentenced today to 30 months in prison plus three years of supervised release for misspending about $750,000 in campaign funds.

His wife, Sandi, a former Chicago alderman, is expected to be sentenced within minutes on a related charge.

Both Jacksons wept in court as they addressed the judge before sentencing.

Jackson Jr. apologized for his crimes and expressed special regrets to his mother and father.

“Your honor, throughout this process I’ve asked the government and the court to hold me and only me accountable for my actions,” he said.

When Jackson Jr. spoke, he voice was firm except for the few times he wept openly and paused to dry his eyes with tissue, blow his nose and collect himself.

“I am the example for the whole Congress,” he said. “I understand that. I didn’t separate my personal life from my political activities, and I couldn’t have been more wrong.”

30 months for stealing $750,000.00(including gold Rolex's and posh vacations) we know about and God knows how much more that we don't. I could do that standing om my head.

I imagine Daddy is ticked but it’s doubtful Jr. will serve all of it, Obummer will probably find a reason to pardon him.

One of the best investments this country could make for it’s future would be to turn ALL prison time into HARD time including hard labor. No cushy country club prisons like Jackson will be sent to. We should make sure that when a criminal is released from prison he NEVER EVER wants to go through that kind of punishment again.

Obama will pardon him.

I don't think so, or at least not while he's in jail. The sentence will have been served by the time Obama is leaving office and "Pardon Time" arrives. Maybe he'll pardon him after the fact so his various rights (e.g., CCW, pensions, political viability) won't be impaired afterwards.

How many months off for good behavior?

In the federal system, the maximum time off for good behavior is 15% of the total sentence.

Long vacation in the comfort of Club Feb. Afterwards, when he’s “paid his dues to the society”, and “learned his lessons”, his street cred among the East Coast Establishment will be priceless.

Fixed it.

In an article I read earlier about this is stated that he was living off of disability payments. SS disability? For what? Bi-polar disorder, give me a break.

Guess he got special treatment because sometimes it takes years and years, and lawyers to get disability.

Sounds like he is still scamming the system. I’m sure since he claims they are broke, his wife will become a welfare wife since he has two kids. The taxpayers still are paying.
