Years ago while reeling in a coho salmon near Juneau, Alaska I had a sea lion bite my catch in half, pop to the surface and leer at me with a full mouth. Two seconds later a killer whale broke water and landed right on top the pinniped, leaving a red stain and a small whirlpool. This all happened about twenty feet from my 17 foot boat, soaking us with the splash. The next year I purchased a bigger vessel.
