So a lot of listeners have been complaining to WMAL (the only conservative radio station in Washington, DC) via their Facebook page and other mediums about Al-Jazeera commercial ads airing during programming, especially during Mark Levin's show.
Is this good or bad?
I mean, revenue is revenue, no?
Now WMAL can't be blamed for being a 'racist' & 'bigoted' radio station -- they are airing ads for an organization that does not endear itself to WMAL's values and principles, so WMAL can't be 'that bad', right?
I don't see the big deal, but maybe it's because I'm too well immersed into WMAL's around-the-clock programming that I don't mind that much...

I think they should do whatever to stay on the air, but I disagree, I think the news department is anything but Conservative.
Comes a time to take a side. Some things mean more than money.

I hardly would call that a “news department”, Friend...
it’s good only if the ad is followed by a commercial for Wendy’s Bacon Cheeseburgers or something..
KTRH 740 AM (Houston) - home of Rush, Sean and Levin - and DISH are doing the same thing.
They are quick to dump on McDonnell and Cuccinelli but they have not been reporting a lot of the trouble of McAuliffe .
Great Idea.... The “old” frosty-morn Ham lyric would be good also.
They’re running them down here in Atlanta area also.

Our local station’s (WRVA) manager explained that while he, and the rest of the days content was conservative, the sales department was pure capitalist. Meaning, if the check cleared, the ad was for a legal product, and it met ethical guidelines, the ad would run. Empty minutes have to be filled every day.
They have run ads on Fox News as well.
I can’t speak about WMAL but some other stations that carry Levin and Rush and Hannity and so forth...
also air zillions of questionable ads...
not only for the enemy’s new propaganda network in our country,
but for
“how to get away with not paying your taxes” lawyers and
“how to get away with not paying your rent” lawyers
and
“how to get away with not paying your student loans” lawyers
and
“how to sue your doctor for zillions of dollars” lawyers
and
“how to have 24/7 erections like pile drivers” pills
and the like.
I even sent a couple of these fine talk show hosts notes asking why they couldn’t exercise just a little influence on sponsor selection....given how much influence they do exercise on, say, their contact salaries.
No responses. It appears that most of these fine hosts basically don’t care what kind of sleeze sponsors them, “as long as their cheques don’t bounce.”
I was listening to NPR last week and one of their shows was sponsored by Al Jazeera. Then, early this week they were doing a very positive news story on the same network.
It cracked me up.
Two KNUS on-air personalities have said they’ll walk, if KNUS airs those AJ ads.
We are getting the same ads during Rush’s show in Sarasota.....and a TON of ads on FOX News.
Jamie Coughlin is hot btw, but it is not Larry and Brian - it is the local newsreaders.
So is WPGB in Pittsburgh.
