First, it is a civil war. We have no interest there.
Second, neither side is friendly to us.
Third, obama isn't really looking for consensus, isn't exhibiting any kind of leadership (other than poor leadership). All he is looking for from Congress is someone to help spread the blame on when this inevitably goes wrong.
In short, it is obama's problem, let him take the heat for it. We don't need to add to the death and destruction over there. We don't need to risk our personnel. We don't need to risk our allies. Not our fight, not by a long shot. As they said in the movie "Wargames" - the only winning move is not to play. (in this one anyway)
When will Republicans wake up? They fall for tricks and treats. The media will make fools of them. At least Rand Paul has the guts to speak up against the machine.
