ANCHORAGE - The honorary Mayor of Talkeetna will have his breathing tube removed Tuesday night.

A dog attacked Stubbs the cat on Saturday, puncturing his lung. His owner said the 16-year-old kitty is conscious, but very drowsy from medication after three hours of surgery.

There’s an outpouring of support for Stubbs. Nagley’s General Store in Talkeetna is taking donations for the vet bills.

Any extra money collected will be donated to the Palmer Animal Shelter.

Has the dog been charged with a hate crime?

Precious kitty. Mine is also 16, they are so fragile when they are that old.

Prayers for Stubbs. I hope Ceiling Cat is watching over him too.

So glad to hear he’s improving, I was worried about him, how would the town manage without its Mayor?

Round that dog up and read him the riot act. (A good swift kick is what it needs.)

As one who is owned by an orange tabby, I have a soft spot for them. :) Ours is somewhat unusual in that it is a female.

Of our three cats, our orange tabby is far and away the most affectionate. She’s not a lap cat; she prefers to be held on a shoulder, from which she will smother you in head bonks.
