what it does mean is that i can’t put stuff away exactly where it was before bc things won’t fit the same way.

Who's the anal one now? ;-)

Now I'll have to measure my cabinets when I go home. Thanks.

i can’t compete on the ANALITY scale with you, soother!! it is good to have an anal contractor though. Another issue that cropped up was that with the fridge pushed up to the wall behind, we could not open the left hand side of the fridge completely, which meant i could not pull out the drawer in the fridge. SO i asked Mr B to please pull it out. He did but even then it wasn’t 100% open but i could get the drawer open. He hypothesized on cutting out from the wall next to it, and i said no, ain’t butchering the kitchen just to get the drawer out. So what he devised instead, was adding a piece of wood to come down from top cabinets to the lower ones, alongside the fridge to block viewing of the space behind the fridge. he is going to have the backsplash continue around to that piece as well to have it uniform and completely finished off. he is amazing that way. did i mention how he is customizing this on his own? he ordered extra beadboard door panels to finish off the sides of the island, as well as the outside of the end cabinets. And he used leftover wood to fashion a crown moulding for below the cabinets to match that which was above? He’s doing this all on his own, we would never think of this stuff to ask him to do it.

SO i asked Mr B to please pull it out.

Bow chicka bow wow. ;-)

How does blocking off the view of the space behind the fridge help the door open more?

You have got to be excited-I hope the granite completes a perfect look.

The cabinets above are 14” deep, and the lower ones are 24” deep, but I had a cabinetmaker I worked with build them, making the lower ones extra deep to hold big bowls and cooking pots. I like the look and usefulness well enough that I’ll have the same guy build the same cabinets again for my nest.
