Gems from Buchanan article on Syria
WND ^ | 9/6/2013 | Pat Buchanan

(exceprts)

"...Moreover, this war has debacle written all over it. Should it come, a divided nation will be led by a diffident and dithering commander in chief who makes Adlai Stevenson look like Stonewall Jackson...."

"...We are told we must punish Assad for killing Syrians with gas, but we do not want Assad’s regime to fall. Which raises a question: How many Syrians must we kill with missiles to teach Assad he cannot kill any more Syrians with gas?..."

"...Why not tell the Russians to meet us in the Security Council where we will prove our 'slam-dunk' case? If we can, and do, we will have far greater support for collective sanctions or action than we do now. And if we prove our case and the U.N. does nothing, we will have learned something about the international community worth learning...."

To Buchanan's last point, maybe the right thing to do is to go to the body to which we are tied through anti-WMD treaties and tell them action is needed by them. If they refuse, start untying ourselves from that body because it is an ineffective drain on our precious resources. "International community" indeed. What a joke.

America is not Mt. Olympus and Obama is not Zeus, but he thinks he is.

It is a beautiful thing in one respect, though. Obama has blown his foot off right before important dances with Congress. If the R’s were really an opposition, that would take advantage of the exposed and weakened Obama and demand reversals on other poor judgments of this Administration—ObamaCare, Immigration.

At least Buchanan is consistent. He was against both Iraq wars.

In the 20/20 hindsight of time, yes, Buchanan has been correct. I’ll also say this: he’s had the ‘nads to see the players in DC for who and what they are, and call them out.

This has made him unpopular in the neo-con infested GOP as it stands now, but events and history have proven him correct.

There is not, and never was, a slam-dunk case for US intervention in Syria. This is all of a piece with the anarchy in Libya, and the very serious coup that has taken place in Egypt. The Shi’ites based in the Islamic Republic of Iran are engaged in a turf war with the Sunni faction based in Saudi Arabia.

The great shame of the US Senate is that there several Senators wholly-owned by the Saudi royal family, and they are the ones agitating for intervention against the Iranian Shi’ite faction (McCain and Lindsey Graham). But in the wider reality, both Russia and to a lesser extent, China, have sided with the Iranians.

“Foreign policy issues” is just code for “protecting the interests of the Saudi royal family”.

What was the trigger for the Great War in 1914, again?

While this is good stuff, getting the truth out about Syria, I don’t like the fact that there is no talk about Benghazi, immigration, IRS, F&F, et al.

We need to focus on the issues at home and drop the international distraction that O has single handedly brought up.

We all know what they have on McCain. He’s at the end of his life and he’s willing to sacrifice this country to keep the world from knowing his whole life has been a fraud. He had a choice in 1973. He could be courtmartialed and drummed out of the Navy, if not executed. Or he could be someone’s puppet.

This also proves the press has been a part of the cover-up since the information was there but never reported.

The same mentally ill thought processes of Obozo Liar, McAinal, Kerry the Faux hero, and congressional rats wanting to bomb Syria could apply to 9/11!

I have come around to the conclusion, that he was right both times.

We must call our the Brigades of the Tea Party! We must sharpen the pitchforks! We must rally with the allies of the left who hate war more than that love Obama. We must form a Peace movement that will rival anything in the 1960s! We must ride to the sound of the Guns. First! Sunday go to the Impeachment overpass rally at Noon in your town! What can you do? This is a good question and as an American I believe it must be answered.
1. Write letters to your newspaper voicing opposition to the war and to Obama’s efforts!
2. Artists amongs us—Draw cartoons showing oposition. No to war, No to Obama no to Blood.
3. Music makers! Write us some anti-war songs for our era. maybe anti-war rap.
4. Postermakers—Lets blanket America with Obama as Joker or something—War is not good for America. Just say No.
5. March in parades, rallies, overpasses, Lets be civil but let the nation know we do not like this.
6. Videomakers—lets make anti-war vids and post em on YouTube. Make fun of Obama/Kerry and Mccain.
7. Send support for Rand Pauls and Lee, and Cruz. Forget any thing else-—Its about war now and American Blood.
8. Support Tea Party people and their run for house and Senate and state Government.
9. Lets be creative! maybe we need to uncover any new scandals and don’t let old ones get covered up by the war talk. Mock war every chance we get.
10. Watch “freedonia’s Going to War” number in Marx Brothers Duck Soup—or do a video with people playing the Marx Brothers rally for War with America’s going to war”.

I try to always read any comment made by Buchanan, a very underrated commentator:one that has been relentlessly bashed by the so called media....they are all shameful. I won’t even tell you what I think of the job they have done, covering the so called news the past few years.

If I didn’t know better , I’d think that way down deep they know that a lot of his columns and books are more truthful than they’d like to admit.

You forgot to toss in the Bush family (I & II) and the Clintons. The Saudis learned the Abscam lesson and have adjusted accordingly.

Why aren’t we energy self-sufficient already?
