Word For The Day, Thursday, May 2, 2013 – panegyric

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

panegyric; noun. a lofty oration or writing in praise of a person or thing; eulogy. 2. formal or elaborate praise.Origin: 1590–1600; < Latin, noun use of panēgyricus of, belonging to a public assembly < Greek panēgyrikós, equivalent to panḗgyr ( is ) solemn assembly ( pan- pan- + -ēgyris, combining form of ágyris gathering; cf. category) + -ikos -ic

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Thank you! Since my compadre called to say that the carpenter and his kid who had been working with me are building a shed today and tomorrow, I think I’ll recline in the recliner with a favorite book for awhile-a rare privilege...

Are you fostering/incubating eggs for your chickens?

with heat or cold on your back? i find with my periformis that i much prefer to sit on ice. when i had the hip replacements i really liked heat. i don’t know which is for what, but the chiro def said he was in favor of ice for inflammations, and that biofreeze he sold also helps.
I had another session of the dry needling for my leg last week at PT with disastrous results. I was almost back to where i had been and i have progressed far from April when this first struck. yesterday I had an excellent therapeutic massage with the woman that the chiro recommended back in April> i have seen her literally once a week since. she is fantastic. i told her that leg was bad and she went to town on it, elbows right in the butt muscle where the periformis is etc. I feel so much better today.

I will not let anyone do a cleaning or make-ready on my kitchen, either-never have. It is my territory, and I want it my way...

There is no chiropractor within 30 miles of here-if there was, I’d have gone as soon as I realized what a dumb thing I’d done...

I have gone to the same acupuncturist for over 25 years- ever since the original injury-but he is 50 miles away. those patches are neither hot or cold-the active ingredients are menthol and methyl salicyclate-they are supposed to work for about 12 hours, but I’ve found them effective for 8-it will do for the couple days I need to get over this...

No, this egg is for eating. We only have hens. The point is that this is the first egg ever from the chicks we got in the spring.

Yeah, that’s cool. A few of my friends who ride harleys went down there yesterday for that.

I’m no fan of HD motorcycles, but love what some of these people do, there are charity rides all the time. I guess they aren’t all heroin addicted losers they try to look like with all their OFFICIALLY LICENSED HARLEY GEAR.

My ex brother in law was a grandfather at 31.

HOLY SMOKES! I became a grandpa WAY too young, 46.
