Several performers have alter egos who bring out the best of their energy on stage, but Lady Gaga says her real persona, Stefani Germanotta, is the one she stays away from.
"I am - Stefani is - a perpetually tortured artist," she says in Elle magazine's October issue.
"That's why I changed my name. I can't be her in public. She would be a mess!"

Sure, Mozart she's not, but I do have a certain amount of admiration for Lady Gaga. In a business full of talentless barbie-doll products of focus-group driven Svengalis pulling strings behind the scenes, Lady Gaga did it all on her own. Her success is directly attributed to her ambition and hard work. She created an image, wrote her own music, started out in crappy clubs and worked her way up. And that she did it all without barbie-doll good looks is even more impressive considering the business she's in.
People can knock Lady Gaga all the want. Fact is, if more Americans had her ambition, drive and work ethic, the country would be in a lot better place. Instead, far too many are sitting around waiting for hand-outs.
Classic schizophrenia.
Schizophrenic? She’s bleeding Quadrophrenic.
It is one thing being a “mess”, that’s so cool.
It is another thing Living with a “Mess”
That is a NIGHTMARE.
Ask me about it sometime...
Lol
Lovely.
Not just a “mess”, but a fugly mess.
DUH.
Stefanni....Steven.....you could be right.
