In 2000, Christina Hoff Sommers published The War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism is Harming Our Young Men. Hoff Sommers was already known as a critic of late-20th-century feminism; her much-lauded and much-disparaged 1994 book Who Stole Feminism? had provoked charges that she was anti-women. In August, Hoff Sommers, now a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, updated and reissued her bestseller on boys with a new subtitle: How Misguided Policies Are Harming Our Young Men. Hoff Sommers makes the case that boys and girls are fundamentally differentand that ignoring the difference, in an effort to protect girls, amounts to a war against boys.

>> Wanting to be popular is what causes people to sacrifice their children
Wouldn’t surprise me.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Both Mothers agree that Common Core Math is insane, but they are thinking of drugging their children to conform to the standards.
I've heard TEACHERS say the same thing. They HATE it with a passion.
BTW, great mothers. That should be considered child abuse.
It is quite acceptable to talk about drugging the children during school days only, so they can make it through school.
I have never heard a teacher say they don’t like drugged up kids.
I really haven’t heard that POV.
Oooopsss... Sorry.
Teachers hate the Common Core. Not drugged up kids.
I’m with you, Mark17. I think it is a deliberate agenda to destroy, or at least neuter, men.
We homeschooled. When our son was 7, we went to the local Indian museum. The docent was telling the kids how the boys went out with the men of the tribe at that age and were taught to hunt small game. When we got to the giftshop, he picked up an arrowhead. “Mom, when we get home, I want to hunt small game.”
THAT is what the boys should be doing - hiking around, learning to hunt, learning to be men. I suspect cursive was not in the curriculum.
Tell me about Common Core Math - how is it different? They’ve already screwed up math beyond anything that is logical or recognizable OR comprehensible.
