I confess to watching the last 4 or 5 America's Got Talent shows ...

And I also confess the final positions of Last night's 6 contestent line-up really threw me.

Let me begin by citing a piece of Ebina's home page here;

About Kenichi

Kenichi Ebina is a solo self-taught dance performer, started out dancing Freestyle HipHop and expanding his style to Poppin’, Lockin’, Mime, House, Jazz, Contemporary and Ethnic dance. Kenichi’s unique dance show with illusion effects of sound, light and visual entertains a lot of people who are not even interested in performing arts.

In 2001, Kenichi founded a dance group with all Japanese dancers, BiTriP.

BiTriP won 1st place in the grand championship of “Amateur Night” at the world famous Apollo Theater in 2001 and were the first and only Japanese grand champions. In 2007, Kenichi appeared on dance contest in “Showtime at the Apollo” as a solo performer and became the grand champion of the 2007 season after winning 7 times . Kenichi is the only two-time grand champion in Apollo theater history

.

Kenichi has performed at many events, TV shows and has taught in USA, Europe, Russia, China, Korea, Singapore, Japan, Morocco and Australia. Kenichi has also performed, directed and choreographed for many projects and dance and theater companies.

I can't find anywhere on the web where this guy lives, where he comes from and all the etcetera's one would be curious about if one questioned another's citizenship ...

which is the purpose of this thread.

IS Kenichi Ebina a citizen?

If so, why no bio?

If not, THAT'S why no bio but more impoortantly ... on a show called AMERICA'S Got Talent ... a (perhaps) non-American blew away realo Americans.

OK ... that's all I have ... and anyone that can find this information will win a 25 dollar gift certificate to a Spiegal catalog

It may be all a fantastic element of the way we are socially engineered to accepting ANYone as a citizen ... THAT’S who might care.

I thought kenichi ebina must be some sort of weird new disease.

That’s what I get for never watching tv, I suppose. I’m not “in the know” about what’s truly important.......

I HAVE to watch some TV because my wife can't STAND the amount of time I spend at the computer.

I'm retired, no bills, no kids, she has her own car (but doesn't go anywhere much), very low overhead, enough money to not want ... and I don't HAVE to go to work.

So my attention is available for any and all subject matter, which for the most part is FreeRepublic.

First thing in the morning and a last check at night with intermitant viewings during the day.

AGT was at least an enjoyable few hours.

I thought FORTE was good and best when they belted it out in harmony, but their low volume intro’s were very shaky

Y'know ... I can't FIND validation of that, but he made no bones about talking about his wife and daughter .. IN JAPAN .. which was my first subliminal.

I really didn't think he'd win and I was MOST blown away at Cammie being the first one eliminated.

The entire line-up and positioning went against all my opinions.

And if the judge's reactions and faces are any indication ... theirs too.

I also check FR during the day.

The other thing I do is read a lot. I love my Nook reader, and always have a book at hand to read when things get slow around here.

The look of shock on the judge's faces when Cami was the first to be eliminated said it all.
And when Forte was eliminated, the audience in Radio City Music Hall actually booed!
Not what I was expecting at all!

Was in one of the Hollywood outlets that he’s not a citizen, and he’s born in Japan.

Legal resident, probably.

Thanx, cuz.

When they first showed the line-up, I was torn between almost all the finalists .. they are all good.

But I DID eliminate, in my mind, Kenichi and Forte in early decisions.

I could see Kemichi on a Vegas stage, but I wondered how much he could do to command a contract of any length of time .. and FORTE for the reason I listed above.

I really thought Taylor was a threat to Cammie and Jimmy Rose, but Cammie and Rose went out and ... I was was just floored.

When it was the two, Taylor and Kenichi I thought ... certainly Taylor.

I will confess however, that on a scale of the talent that goes INTO a performance, Kenichi wins hands down.

One of two things MAY result from this;

America will ask questions about citizenship

or

They won't.

I predict they won't

I'm okay with Kenichi's victory in AGT. Modern expressive dance is part of the American culture. If he's a non-citizen living in the US legally, he is part of America's talent.

I'm not okay with "Bollywood" being part of US culture, as with Miss America. Letting Miss Kansas do a skit with Archery or Sharpshooting would've been more American.
